Navigation & Audio Bluetooth compatibility list
Steve
Yes this is correct. Why? it's just the way they programed it. the NAV cars don't have this problem
Yes, same as above.
It is very unfortunate that MINI will not change this. I do not see why they could not but after speaking with MINI Customer Service they can not get an answer to why.
EDIT: and BTW at least in my 08 (i do not think it changed for 09) there is a limit of 20 names/numbers that can be recorded.

Thanks, much appreciated! I had the A737 in the list as pairing and dialing, but not syncing the address book, does that match what you experienced?
That would imply that the S740 and the Matrix Pro at least sync'd the address books?

If not, you'd most likely get the error 'Phone book is empty' when you press the voice command button and try to use the dial/call command.
Thank you Steve! I've got it entered. It's odd that you need to do the manual selection from the radio- (I'm assuming by your problem and description that you don't have the factory installed nav...) Have you setup voice tags for the numbers you want to dial by voice command?

I have entered a couple of voice tags and that works just fine --- after moving the microphone. Before that, the system couldn't understand what I was saying.

Here's my contribution to the cause:
Car: 2009 MC Conv, No-NAV (picked up today!)
Phone: Verizon Chocolate 3 (picked this up last week)
SW Version: VX856V05
Pairs, Dials, Transfers Address Book with no problems
Must create new voice tags

nicknbecka,
thanks so much for the info you've gathered and maintained. I used it to pick a new phone (Sony Ericson W580i) before I picked up my Clubman, and it worked perfectly, just as your data said.
Thanks, thanks, a thousand thanks!

In all honesty, maintaining the list is pretty easy. Most of the work is done by the people who are actually trying the phones out and posting about them
So, a huge thanks to everyone that's posted about their experience with their phones!
I've been reading thru threads about bluetooth and compatibility with the MINI system. Some people had alluded to other people who sync'd phones that wasn't on the http://www.wireless4mini.com/phones.html list. I'd like to make this thread be a list of phones people have found to be compatible with the MINI's factory system. For discussions about bluetooth, or how to sync phones, where to buy phones, aftermarket bluetooth, etc, please let's leave that out of this thread.
I'll keep a list of good and bad in this first message.
BAD:
Motorola v555 (connects, phonebook transfers, can receive calls, drops bluetooth connection when dialing out)
Motorola v551
Motorola v555
Motorola v557 (connects, phonebook transfers, can receive calls, drops bluetooth connection when dialing out)
Samsung A-870 does not work
Samsung Blast (no connection/sync to bluetooth)
Samsung Katalyst (drops bluetooth connection but not the call)
Samsung SGH-A707
Samsung SGH-X820 (can't call out)
Samsung SPH-A900 might work, but must be re-paired for each start of the car
Samsung SGH-D900 pairs, but disconnects after about five minutes (maybe a power save issue?)
Sony Ericsson K850i (works for two weeks, then craps out the BT module)
Sprint 6700
Treo 650 (works for a short time before messing up the BT circuits see link Post #9 in this thread)
Treo 700wx works, but must be reset for each start of the car
Treo 755p (works for a short time before messing up the BT circuits see link Post #9 in this thread)
UT Starcomm 6700, works but is interrupted by powersave functions

I have the HTC Touch Pro, which includes voice command, which interprets my speach and dials. I currently have a Motorola bluetooth earpiece, and when I hit the dial button, I can say "Call Home", and it dials -- no voice tag necessary.
My question: is it possible to set up this same functionality via the MINI bluetooth setup? I really don't need my contacts synchronized over -- I have them in my phone.

If you D Not have NAV then your MUST set up vice tags to get it to voice dial. Unfortunately that is how the software works. Why I do not know but that is the unfortunate reality. I have even complained to MINI USA about this but just get their same canned response "Thank you for your interest"
Sorry for the bad news
EDIT: BTW there is only 20 slots for numbers in the voice dialing system on the 08's and i have heard but have not been able to verify that the 09's have gone up to 30.
I'm guessing that you've already tried adjusting or disabling the Bluetooth power saving settings? (Power Settings -> "Advanced" tab -> "External Power Settings" and Uncheck "Turn off device if not used for...")
Hi Everyone!
I am having a really difficult time finding a current phone from AT&T that works with my MINI.
Anyone recently gotten a phone from AT&T?
Or does anyone know of one that will work?
I like "easy to use" phones- LOL
Thanks!!!!!

I have Comfort Bluetooth that includes the armrest wired for an cradle. Does anyone have suggestions for easily hooking up a USB cable to use for charging a phone or other portable device? Is there an adapter that could clip onto the armrest connector? Would the best idea be to buy any cradle and solder a USB cable to the proper power/ground pins?
That's been pondered here before and no one has come up with a cable to connect to the cradle connector. The round part in the middle is the antenna connector. Probably the best way to make your own would be to buy a cradle chop it up to figure out where to connect to. When I dismantled my Razr cradle it has a circuit board inside directly above that connector in the armrest. There were no loose wires that I could have attached to, although anyone with soldering experience on circuit boards could have figured it out I'd bet.
Edit: Considering a razr uses a small USB connector (looks like a Mini-A type I think), you might be able to just cut up the cradle and tag onto the wiring to that jack.

My new 09 has the buetooth option which is new for me in a car. I use a bunch of Nokia phones but currently i am using the 5800XM. It pairs fine, adress book works fine, but seems to drop connecting in the middle of a call. Any ideas?
How far into the call? is it always around the same time?
Blackberry Storm Update?
Can anyone give me an update on the Blackberry Storm? I'm wanting to buy that phone but I want to make sure that it works perfectly with my 09 MCS. No nav.
Updates would be great.
Regards,
Pat

Did you check out nicknbecka's spreadsheet link? http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?k...HjCm-AfA&hl=en the Storm looks like it's all good news.
