Navigation & Audio Bluetooth compatibility list
I actually had my sales guy at Verizon tell me about CrackBerry. I was downloading ringtones like crazy Friday night!
My sister keeps me well supplied in hand-me-down phones (otherwise I'd still be using two tin cans with string between 'em). When I got my MINI in August, I had my inherited Treo 700 w/ Verizon as my carrier. Three months later, I'm totally pleased with it's interface with the MINI.
Now, she's giving me the Centro. I noticed on nicknbecka's spreadsheet that the Centro's got an issue with contacts. From those with experience using the Centro, does the address book synch at all? The 700 only loads the favorites (which is fine by me). If that's the case with the Centro, no problem. On the other hand, if the Centro can't perform at least as well as the 700, I'll hold off on using it.
Thanks in advance for any input.

Seacanu:
I know the Storm will pair with the MINI.
Since your current efforts have not worked, I recommend that you should start all over again by deleting the phone from the MINI (if it is listed). Then restart the process.
The biggest problem I have had in syncing phones is making sure that you enter the four digit codes in both the phone and the MINI within 30 seconds, when asked.
as far as I know you can use any four digits, but they must be the same for the phone and the car.
Good luck and let us know how it goes.

Yesterday was new phone day for me and I tried out three different models in my '09 Cooper w/o Nav system.
Motorola W490 (this one was posted about previously though)
-Worked exactly the same as Razr V3. It paired easily and transferred the phonebook from the sim card. Voice dialing worked, but since no Nav package, I had to create my own tags.
Motorola ACTV/W450
-Paired with the system. The fun stops there. Three tries of deleting and starting over failed to transfer the address book. Will dial numbers input manually or through saying "555 555 1234". I did not try to create any voice tags.
Nokia 5310
-Paired with the system, transferred phonebook from sim, hand-dialed, dialed from selecting contacts on screen, voice dialed with numbers or manually added tags. Worked perfectly for me.
On a side note. The bluetooth system voice commands do not match those in the literature given to me by my dealer.
Example: Book says command is "Store Name". Actually command is "Save Name" "Store name" does absolutely nothing . . .
There are several of these in my book that do not match what the system does. Has anyone else had this issue? I stumbled across it by accidently saying the wrong thing.

The Motorolla V950 Renegade works great with my Sprint/Nextel service. No Direct Connect via the bluetooth, of course, but the phone features work perfectly.
Voice dialing in the phone and voice dialing in the car seem to be independent, as the manual (in the car) suggests.

Thanks! I was missing voice dialing on the W490, so that's new info all around
Yeah, it's unfortunate that they haven't updated this yet; Schatzy62 did a detailed post on the differences he found here.
Thanks to you too Duncan! I'm assuming that by 'work perfectly' you're including the address book syncs work too- that's the way I've added it to my list, but if that's wrong please let me know and I'll get it fixed.

It may improve with the update- the Sprint Centro had some issues before it's update, if I remember correctly. The favorites being the only contacts synced is the same for every Treo, so that can be expected if it does work.
The Treo has worked great for me. I'm OK with only the favorites transferring--98% of the time that's who I want to call. My problem with trying the Centro now is that I would have to have service transferred to Centro (and thus lose service on the Treo). My sister tells me if I do it all online it's no big deal, but I hate putting all my info online. I think Verizon charges $40 to do it in-house. Kinda steep for a grand experiment...
Yeah- my brother had his transferred from one Verizon office at no charge, but that may have been because he bought a new phone there. I guess you could always ask nicely?
Then again, I don't know the differences between the Centro and the 700 all that well, maybe it's not enough of a change to be worth the try.

I can't. I have a hard time being nice
.
The Centro is about half the size of the 700p (whose size is kinda substantial). If not for the synching with Outlook or a calendar program, I would happily go to a pretty basic flip phone.

Okay Im new at this and sometimes technologically challenged. What's a voice tag? Can someone walk me through setting my phone up? I have a Moto Razr VE20....

Love my Fuze! I have a proclip and it's usually running TomTom while also connected via bluetooth. If only the car would pass the voice commands through to the phone, life would be perfect! (But it's pretty good as it is with nav, email, texts, and mp3 podcasts all running! Let's not even talk about slingbox, it's only for emergency use! lol)

With the exception of the Nav (but including perhaps Google Maps and ssh) that sounds like my Blackberry...
Hi all,
I've had the new 2009 Clubman for 3 weeks now and no one can get my Verizon MOTO W755 to work with the Bluetooth. It will connect, but then loses connection. It will connect, but then no one on the other end can hear me speak. I took it to the dealer, they got it to work for one call, but now it won't even recognize the phone anymore. Verizon is telling me to update the software, which I will get done on Wed, but I must say I would NEVER recommend this phone with the Mini, and I am highly p****d off that I paid FIVE HUNDRED BUCKS for the Mini Bluetooth and it doesn't work with this brand new phone, and that when I ordered this option NO ONE TOLD ME that it would only work with a limited number of phones. Okay. Venting done. Of course the problem is I'm stuck in a 2 year contract and if I want to upgrade to a Blackberry, for instance, I will have to pay full price for the Blackberry which is currently running a lovely $500 or so. ARGHHHH.

- I cleared out the pairing profile to my RAZR before attempting to pair up the new W755. Maybe try this before pairing with your new phone?
- Phone book transferred over fine. Note: I had voice tags that I recorded myself, so I don't know if the voice activation would work had I not entered the tags myself.
- Voice activation works fine.
- Dialing, picking up calls, talking, and hanging up via the steering wheel controls all work fine.
My software version is COOL01_01.10.00R
Anyone else have this problem? Should I disconnect the battery in the car to "reboot" the entire car and see if that works? Should I try and clear everything and attempt to pair the phone again?
What do you think?????

The W755 seems to be an odd one, the reports seem to be all over the board.
I'd would check the firmware version of the phone and see what we can turn up. If your RAZR didn't have any problems ringing through the car, I'd say that would eliminate any potential issues with the car.
It might be worthwhile to avoid doing any firmware updates until you can compare notes with others that don't have issues. Some firmware updates in the past have caused more issues than they solved, so it may end up being better to leave it as it is.
