Hi Avril

I think we both may be in the same boat. I am lusting after the Crackberry Storm. That phone is not even available til at least the 15th. So I won't know until I get it. Is the Bold available now?

We probably have a pretty good chance the phones will work with the MINI since Blackberry has a good track record so far.

If you find out about the Bold, let us know. Good Luck
Rich

Verizon MOTO W755 Does not work

Hi all,
I've had the new 2009 Clubman for 3 weeks now and no one can get my Verizon MOTO W755 to work with the Bluetooth. It will connect, but then loses connection. It will connect, but then no one on the other end can hear me speak. I took it to the dealer, they got it to work for one call, but now it won't even recognize the phone anymore. Verizon is telling me to update the software, which I will get done on Wed, but I must say I would NEVER recommend this phone with the Mini, and I am highly p****d off that I paid FIVE HUNDRED BUCKS for the Mini Bluetooth and it doesn't work with this brand new phone, and that when I ordered this option NO ONE TOLD ME that it would only work with a limited number of phones. Okay. Venting done. Of course the problem is I'm stuck in a 2 year contract and if I want to upgrade to a Blackberry, for instance, I will have to pay full price for the Blackberry which is currently running a lovely $500 or so. ARGHHHH.

Have you read the very helpful spreadsheet that is hyperlinked in nicknbecka's signature http://spreadsheets.google.com/ccc?k...HjCm-AfA&hl=en? Try not to lose your mind quite yet - get that software update before you go too far down the regret road. Please let us know how things go with the update! Fingers crossed for you!

I can sympathize. I also had the MOTO W755 and it sounds like the same things that were happening to me, happened to you as well. The rep at the Verizon store was pretty good. He let me try out the phone to see if it worked before I would have to buy it. I tried the MOTO W755; the LG Dare - it worked but the phonebook would not transfer. And finally, after reading a post here, got the Motorola Kraze ZN4. It works perfectly in my '09 Mini. So in case you can change yours, you may want to try the Kraze.

The other report I've got for the W755 shows it working, but other recent releases of some Verizon phones have had updated firmware that's caused issues. Do you know which firmware version you have now?

Your MA should have made it very clear that it only works with certain phones. I'd go back and make sure they're afraid not to mention it for future customers

EDIT:

Also, have you tried restarting the phone and repairing it? Normally things are more go/no go. Also something I forgot, how long ago did you pick up the W755? I've seen posted here that Verizon is pretty good about exchanging phones within a certain period- 30 days I think?

I've had my '08 Clubman for less than a month and the dealer set up my phone, a T-Mobile, Motorola W490. It works perfectly and isn't on the list of compatable phones. Love it and well worth the money!

With Verizon, you have 30 days to return any phone for any reason. Run, do not walk to a Verizon store and return the phone you have if your can! I have a 2008 Clubman with the USB/Bluetooth Convenience package. I use the Verizon Razr2 v9m and it works like a charm. I think they still sell this phone. Phonebook transfers fine. Voice activated calling after entering voice tags.

I am currently lusting after the Blackberry touch "Storm" which should be out in about 2 weeks. If you are still having a problem then, or if you have already missed your 30 day return policy and don't want to pay $500.00 for a new phone, we should talk. I may have a perfect, slightly used Razr2 (complete with the snap-in MINI armrest cradle and some other options) available at a very good price if Verizon ever comes out with the new Storm! (great phone: 1 gig Micro card, OEM ear phone buds, 2 mp camera)

I just got my new Blackberry 8220 flip phone last night. I'm happy to report that it works great with my Mini blue tooth. Syncs, voice dials, transfers address book, and everything. You can add this phone to the WORKS list!

Nav or No Nav. it seems ot make a difference on some phones for voice dialing.

I do not have navigation in my Mini. Don't know why that would make a difference but I can't tell you about that since I don't have it. All I know is that the phone (Blackberry 8220) works great for me.

As far as we can tell, having Nav means that you can voice dial without setting up voice tags; where without you need to create them individually.

So did you need to set up voice dial tags or did it just work as the phone has voice dial capabilities?

As nicknbecka stated the cars seem to work differently and i think it has something to do with the change of hardware. Where the non nav does not handle the voice transfer for voice dialing to the phone very well.

I already had voice tags set up before with my RAZR so they were already in the system so I can't say.

Hi folks,
Several of you have relayed that your particular phone works. However, I've learned that the different manufacturers use different Bluetooth protocols (who knew?) so would you all also include which carrier you're using when passing along the good (or bad, in my case) news, to help future Bluetooth puzzlers? Many thanks! I am off this morning to Verizon, where my 30 days trade-in option is long up, to actually pay for a new Razr, since I've become addicted to the idea of voice activation. According to you all, the Razr should work with my 2009 Clubman since my Verizon MOTO W755 does NOT work. Sigh. Ain't technology wonderful?

Actually, the Bluetooth info on each phone is pretty readily available online. Unfortunately, the Bluetooth version and supported profiles information has been a really poor indicator on whether a phone will work or not. We can only say that if a phone doesn't have the OPP profile, it's guaranteed to not work with the address book or voice control. Otherwise, it might work and the only way to know is to try it. Still, knowing the carrier can help and is more important when a phone works contrary to what we expect.

Where we've found differences in how the phone works, I've make seperate entries in the spreadsheet. Luckily, most of the time a phone gets changed between carriers it gets a new name or model number, so confusion hasn't been as much of an issue as it could be.

I'm with T Mobile. It's the only carrier that sells the Blackberry Flip 8220. I wanted to add that some people are having trouble with their address books. Address books have to be on the phone itself for it to transfer. It will NOT transfer from the SIM card. Just a thought. Mine went in like a dream.

That's turned out to be true for most, but also depends on the phone. I've never had a phone that would transfer the SIM to the car, but according to the MINI docs I've seen some phones will transfer both, and other will only work reliably with contacts from the SIM.

The only 2 phones I can verify are my T Mobile RAZR V3t and my new T Mobile Blackberry Flip 8220. Both of them required transfer of address book to phone. Maybe it's a T Mobile thing?

I've had a RAZR and BlackBerry curve. The PDF I have is from the MINI International site, so it's not North America specific, but nearly all the phones that show the SIM card working are Nokia, Sony Ericson and Samsung.

I use the Samsung Blast with T-Mobile, and the contact information transferred from the SIM card just fine. It's not difficult to copy the contacts from SIM to phone or vice versa, so do whatever works for you.

My AT&T Razr v3 only had contacts on the sim card and they transferred and voice dialed on the Mini without any additional setup.

You guys can add the new Sprint HTC Touch Pro to the list. It synced up perfect and pulls all my phone book fine.
