Does anyone received and installed their update, improved, file from Franz?

I'd like to know what is the difference, and if you felt an improvment with it over your last MTH file?

I've received mine, but need to transfer it... My cable is borrowed to another member, and I'll only give it a try in 1-2 weeks...

Thanks! Franz seems very positive about it, and I think that there must be a reason for this! When a tuner is proud to announce improvments, it's always for the best!

Props to Franz for keeping MINI tuning updated, for the low cost of MTH!

I believe my car has gotten better. It seems to pull slightly better according to the "butt dyno". It also get .7 MPG better in the city. But I also think this occured as the car passed 10k miles.

I just flashed mine with the new file. 4k to redline seems much smoother and really crisp. The first few degrees of throttle seem to be damped a little more, but car feels more refined. I only have about 50 miles on this flash, so I'll see how feels in a week.

Forget a week. About a hundred miles later and it is very smooth and feels great from 4-7k rpm.

What did you have Franz do? I noticed I get a bit of a yo-yo effect when in 1st gear sometimes.

Strider209,
I didn't have him do anything. It's a new update that was mentioned on minimods.us. Actually, I was about to ask for a leaner mixture and slightly higher redline when I noticed the announcement of the new flash.

He said that he prefers keeping it rich and not going over 7200rpm for safety. Although, he did send me a leaner file also. I will dyno the rich file and see where the air/fuel is before I try the lean file.

I''m sending you a PM. I get a little yo-yo in 1st gear and would like to see what the new files do.

Problem with Mth software

Hey Gang, I have followed all the intructions and got everything to work. My USB works and I am able to read the car.
I was trying now to upload and it keeps telling me I have the wrong key code. I know I wrote down the write one (Thanks Gordon!). I already sent them an email. Has anyone else had a problem with this?

Thanks,
Michael

Did you make sure you picked the engine and then open the file to load? I know you probabaly did but I had this same problem and it was my fault and I can not remember what I was doing and bythe way make sure your key is on.

Thanks. I am not sure about picking the engine?????

First I pressed the ID icon.

Then I pressed the icon to find my files. It was the 91oct (He also sent me one for track days). I put in my key code also. Then I pressed the arrow pointing toward the car icon to upload. It said I had an invlalid key code.

Do I need to choose an engine even after it reads my car??? If so, what enngine do I choose?

3. put number in blue box

4. hit the upload button...

5. start car

The problem Astra I had was between steps 4 and 5. It keeps telling me that I have the wrong code key. I did start the car and it did sound different, perhaps running a little rich. But I don't think the software worked??

Actually I will be this Saturday (In Westwood area). I live in Ocenside. I am also part of SCMM. I emailed Germany so if they give me a new code I should be OK. If not, I will email you back.

Thanks!

When you register your VIN, be sure to type it in all CAPS. I think it was AlexN that said capitalization does matter, or the key-code won't match.

You are right on! I got an email this morning from Germany. The Vin was not typed in with Caps. They sent me a new Key Code. I was uploading to LAASER by 6am! It is working. Really took the stuttering out of the recent smog recall software upgrade.

Thanks Gang!

I uploaded my new MTH file yesterday. It was my 4th version from Franz, and this time, I had some problems to get the file into the ECU! After some errors, and 7 tries, it finally managed to upload successfully!

After 200km driven on it, I can defenitively say the engine is much smoother than before! From 2000 to 4500rpm, it's really smoother than before and seems to pull a bit harder. After 4000rpm, it feels stronger, but nothing amazingly different...

One thing great is the backfires it makes! My One-Ball sounds like an old dragster!

I really think the new MTH version worths giving it a try. It smooths everything and give a little more power too. (butt-dyno tested and approuved )

Franz did a great job!

If you have MTH and the cable, you are obviously able to backup your stock software right? If you then get GIAC for example, would you be able to also back that up? Be able to switch between the three on the fly for comparion?

Adding a bit of information to the MTH thread. It has nothing to do with what's currently being discussed.

I wanted to know why my factory map was scoring 11whp & 8lbs tq higher on my Palm Dynoscanner than any of my 5 MTH maps.

Franz replys:

"@BluMiniMe

Torque indicators over OBD are wrong with my software!

I changed the computation "

Now, I don't know exactly what that means... except perhaps, that a real dyno would be more accurate in measuring his product.

I loaded Franz's new updated file and the main thing I can tell is that the YO YO seems to be gone, runs smoother than the last file so all in all great job Franz.

What brand palm dyno are you using? I have nology and although it is consistant, it has been lower than a dyno jet. I'll try it with the new software and see.

My first two tanks of gas have shown much better mileage. 300 for the first and 330 for the second. These are the highest numbers I've seen in 42,000 miles. And that's with hard driving to "test" this new version. Oh yeah, about 12.5 gallons per fill up.

Isn't what hits the pavement always different then what comes from the onboard computer anyways?

I might be way off here. Just putting in my 2 cents.

ask Franz to translate it back to German and send me his reply. A German coworker translates for me. PM me the translation on the minimods site
