89AKurt... amazing photos... can't wait to get my Mini to start trying to take some pics.

just a question... you seem to be on some off roads/dirt roads a fair amount... (at least in the pics), did you have the clearbra installed? if so, would you recommend? if not, have you noticed a lot of rock chips on your bonnet?

thanks!

Thank you!

I haven't done that. It already was "broke in" when I bought it. Wished I taped the headlights when I attended High Performance Driving School. And it wouldn't help with a deer collision.

This was tonights cruise, last of the year for this location. The old train depot in background.

Swifty is in there somewhere.

Red is so much easier to photograph than rust.

Making up for last night...

... tonights sunset.
I did a few things, even 'took out' something distracting.

The other angles and telephoto amount sure make a difference.

Nice.

Thanks for keeping this thread alive. I'm going to make an attempt at this tomorrow night. Hopefully the weather cooperates.

Prescott Valley

After dropping off the kids for soccer practice I motored to Valley Road. Tried Dave's tip of low camera position, is it too low?

This is a lightly travelled road, but still have to look out for nuts like me zooming around.

Smoke from the Day wildfire in CA contributed some color.

Tried a high camera position (since I rushed out without the tripod).

I repositioned Swifty a few times hoping to get the grass to cooperate.

I wasn't expecting much; started with this from the loft window. Then it got better and I had to include the MINI. I still am surprised by what can happen.

White Spar

Had the brilliant idea of motoring down 89 south of town, known as White Spar. Couldn't decide to drive or take pictures.:impatient Mainly looking for turnouts not yet guardrailed closed.

First location. No color to speak of.

This is a narrow ridge that has a good view of the road below, lousy for this.

I didn't expect much, so drove further. Near the top the color got intense, no time to be picky about location (like stay put *******).

New location

Tried a new spot (as in new subdivision) in Prescott Valley. Wishing I had a bright flash... Washed Swifty this morning, so had to take a picture!

Finally get to start a new page.

One of our featureless Southern California sky's as a backdrop. As Tim Gunn might say, "Make it work"

Sunrise

Another *yawn* sunrise. The grasses have been beaten down now. I 'enhanced' this, but didn't bother taking out the reflecting signs.

More dramatic earlier.

A little later. This shower passed over me, so Swifty will now be dirty.

Dave: couldn't you Photochop some clouds into your photos? Nice to see other people posting on this thread.

New location, at the gateway Mall, undeveloped (no parkinglot b.s.).

My auto-focus was not working, had to rotate over 90deg to get a lock.

Kurt you seriously need to figure out how to animate gif's and take all your MINI sunset photos and make them morph into eachother as a little video, That would be totally cool! (I still need to learn how to do it too, I hear it's not hard)

Yea, if I didn't have anything to do it would be fun.
I was hoping to take enough to be able to create one of those collage pictures that look like one big picture (I'm not learned nuf to know what that's called). Really, it's about quantity in hopes of getting the occasional quality shot.

It's called a photo mosaic. Yucca posted a link to site that has software that does it for you (and the software is FREE!!!!) I've done a few with mixed results, I think I'll have to give it aother go soon.

I've been itching to get some sunsets but all week tis been overcast by 4pm (on the good days)

Yucca started a thread on it so if find is profile it should be fairly easy to find. I love the mosaics, I just need to find someone to pront a few for me

Groovy is coming back, and I still use "cool", so whatever.
I'm glad other NAMers know how to use this web thingy. But don't hold your breath for me to knock something out.
