A MINI amongst a sunset (new pic I took)
Now you're official.

Is the light in the foreground from streetlights? Your car shows up surprisingly well. I like the background (despite lack of elevation, which would drive me nuts).
And you get to start a page!
Yup, I used a little trick with a slow shutter in the dark corner of a parking lot when I took the photo it was about 20 min. after the last naked visible sunlight, but the long shutter to get a black car show up on a dark green background let enough light fromn the sky peek in to show a sunset.
This is as close asyou're going to get tonight, I detail Pearl, but by the time I was done it was already dark.

And those are pre-wax

First entry...
... I'm ready.
On my way down to work the weekend at Firebird raceway, I managed to take these:

This shot had the slowest speed.

The first wide spot after pulling off.

Traffic?

Tripod? Shoot out the window at speed!

Well, it's orange.
Missed the sunset Friday because I was getting 2 new tires.

Pass em' Kurt, pass em'!!!
Wait, did someone say something about a NEW camera???
And now for something completely different...
Moon rise last night from south San Jose. Telephotos are great for eliminating the urban clutter, but bad for including a Mini in a photo like this. Apologies in advance, but I'm feeling guilty for not contributing any sunset photos lately.

I'm begining to know how you feel.
Just words
Re: track photo. On another lap, I let the Cobra by into the hairpin turn before this. You know how twitchy they are in turns, had fun taking it wide but nailing the apex under full power and passing the Cobra... for at least a second.
At least I was faster than 2 Porsches and a Ferrari 328.
Re: traffic. Black Canyon City is a quaint pull off the interstate. Don't forget that was taken the morning after Thanksgiving too. If I show "rush hour" in Prescott, will you like me again Dave?
Re: guilty. Dave, I can't do this all by myself, you and Motor On need to post more often. Besides, no action for me lately.
My freind got the new camera. One of these days...

Prove it!
So here's my challenge to you since Prescott seems to have an overabundance of red rocks, big beautiful colorful skies, complete lack of clutter, vista points at every bend in the road, etc., can you pull off a sunset photo in this, as you previously stated, highly developed and populated town? Oh sure, you're taking AZ Highway magazine quality cover photos every week, but I want to see what the sunset master can do in a real urban environment (so I can really feel small and pathetic).

FWIW, when you're lucky enough to have great colors and a perfect scene like that, take a few extra photos to experiment on different things. Sometimes the car looks better with its headlamps on or off. Or try having the front wheels turned pointing to a different direction. When you review the photos later, you'll discover lots of little things that can improve a photo. Have fun with it, take lots more photos, and please share them with us!

Amazing colors, well done.

I earn a little extra money on the side as a wildlife photographer, but have never taken automotive pictures before. A lot more stuff reflects on the car compared to a moose.
It's going to take some practice.Roy
Thanks for the compliment. We get fantastic sunsets all the time here with the dust and sand that comes off the west desert. In this case I took several versions and this was what I was partially satisfied with.

My sunsets are around 15:00 right now so about 18:00 I go looking for a sunset and realize I'm already into night photo territory.
Prove it!

Good to see a new contributer Itphoto! I used to ski Alta and Brighton, awesome roads up those canyons!
I can understand the shift of thought from elusive wildlife to cars. Your dark color is a challenge too, look forward to more from you.speednut: we have plenty of cuts in mountainsides and big box stores and industrial areas that I can uglify my background with. But why? I would rather bug you... it's much more fun.
Besides, who got how many photos in the calender?
Here is another picture, the MINI was in the warm garage.

Okay Kurt, sure, take the easy way out.
"sundog"?
Nonetheless, beautiful photo blockh102.
