For those of you that don't know and for those who do as I see by the posts some of you do but failed to mention it, I have organized and run the covered bridge tour in October for the past two years. It has been a Mini regular event and I have been working on making it into a yearly National Event along with an autocross and other fun things for Minis to do. My website which unfortunately the hosting company who took over the last one crashed it will be back up within the next month hopefully. I run the National Club the North American Mini Enthusiasts or NAME Car Club for short. The website when restored is http://www.namecarclub.org. We already have this years events planned for the first and second weekend in October. The first being an autocross and car show and the second being the bridge tour. Keep these dates in mind or for more info email me at my alt email till the site is back up. drmini@optonline.net . I have put a lot of hard work into maintaining the fall event and would like it to remain a fall event. An alternate for running a bridge tour in the summer would be a run up the Delaware into NY state to the Hawks Nest Diner which sits high on the cliff over looking the river. The feeling I have is if you run a similar event over and over through out the year, is that it will lose it's luster for those that have run it. Its too late for this year but next year perhaps an alternative to this can be found to keep the bridge tour the quality fall event it has been for the past few years. I have put many hours of work into it and would like to keep it growing into a full Fall Event for us as we are trying this year.

Dr_Mini:

My public apologies for inadvertently duplicating your club's event.

We are just a group of new MINI owners that are eager to see some of the nicest roads in this country. We have a lot of miles and many beautiful roads to catch up on compared to classic Mini owners. You guys have been enjoying this for years. I promise that we'll bring another big group in the fall (What is the date?).

Incidently, I rode with a group of 12 MINIs through Hawk's nest yesterday on our canoe trip. We're bound to hit many of the good roads. We're heading out in various sized groups every weekend all across the country.

Are you the one that people can contact if they have questions about Okt-Cooper-fest?

Cheers,
Kim

**This event is still on for next Sunday. We'll be using a combination of routes from the June 9th, 2002 and 2003 H.O.G.s Covered Bridge Poker Run. plus some changes that we made during the dry-run. We won't be seeing all of the bridges of Bucks County. After hearing how upset Dr_Mini was for "using" his route, I went to the Bucks County H.O.G. website. I emailed the director and asst. director asking permission to use a portion of their route. Don't wanna **** off the H.O.G.s too.

The popular "Hawk Nest Resturant" that Dr. Mini referes to is no more. It burnt down about 6 months ago.
Just for the record ---where were you guys parked yesterday in Eddy Pond ? I drove up and down looking for your cars between 10:30-11:00 yesterday and could not find a single mini.
I will show up at the Covered Bridge start in that I live but 5 miles away in Bucks County. I sold my MCS and have several new/like new accessories to offer at 1/2 the original cost. From Cuckoo clock to top of the line car cover used once. Hope you don't mind.

Update on using the H.O.G. routes:

This is the reply I got from the Assistant Director of the Bucks County H.O.G.s:

"the bridges r there for everyone to enjoy. I just came back from sullivan co. they also have a number of bridges. columbia co. also, they have nice roads"

Thanks H.O.G.s!!!!

You know,

You meet the nicest people on HOGs!!!

I am SOOOOOO looking forward to enjoying OUR route this coming Sunday! I'm sure we'll have lots of HOGs to wave our thanks to for mapping out the initial runs, and the few that we've added for good measure!!!

You also meet the nicest people in MINIs too!!! Can't wait to meet everyone on Sunday!! I just went and bought myself a set of Motorola two-ways!!!

Everyone have a wonderful week, and get your various and sundry MINIs (and of the few other non-MINIs that are tagging along, to gawk at their future vehicles!) all spiffed up for the photo ops, and all the waves from the throngs of crowds as we Motor by!!!

Cheers.

Scott

Proud owner of an '03 Ly/Ly MCS, but you knew that if you scrolled back and saw the photos!!!

Dr Mini,

Harmini didn't mean to upset anyone, doing a covered bridge run is an idea that many people from motorcycle and other car clubs have. In fact, doesn't Bucks County promote it as a tourist attraction?

Harmini also didn't steal your route, she worked with info from Bucks County and some people who volunteered from other car clubs to plan it.

I would be just as likely to attend your event if I learned of it, even if I'd already done something similar 2-3 months earlier.

We just did a run up to Hawk's Nest, did you steal the idea from the person who organized it? No, I'm sure you didn't, but it's popular for a reason, also with motorcyclists (of which we saw many) and presumably other car clubs.

I appreciate the hard work of anyone who organizes these types of events, please don't feel slighted.

Everyone,

Looking so forward to this run. I have enjoyed these roads for years in my ol girl. Seems like yesterday we did our first annual Z3 Covered bridge drive. Has been 6 years already!

Now its time to start driving many different Pennsylvania roads in our New MINI <as soon as she arrives> I look forward to sharing so many of the great roads from Bucks to Berks and beyond. We have seen them all. There is great beauty in Eastern Pennsylvania and the best part in all of this good motoring is the special people you meet along the way. I look forward to meeting all of you on Sunday to share stories and camaraderie and oh yea a bunch of twisties!

See you then,

Pocket Rocket

Maybe MINIs and H.O.G.s have more in common than MINIs and Minis???

Kev,

You are too funny!!! I totally forgot about that marketing campaign by Honda, and yes, at the time, it did make the HOG owners boil, destroyed the image of the rough and tumble biker...

But, I did buy a Honda cycle in the 80's (and I think I'm a nice person) and then bought a BMW cycle this year! So, maybe I should have said "you meet the nicest people on motorcycles!", but alas, it was the HOG owners that helped out with the initial routing.

Don't let your black and orange blood boil too much, or we'll have to stop along the route to refill your radiator!!!

Cheers.

Scott

Okay everyone, this has been a busy morning for Craig, Jack, Scott and me. We've worked out some of the last minute details and have made some minor changes.

Last Friday, I tried out Faherty's restaurant and was very disappointed. I asked the guys if they would help us find a better place to eat. Scott found a place that will be perfect. It's called the Triumph Brewing Company in New Hope. It's a new place that just opened in Union Square, they'll give us free up-front parking and are happy to have us come there. YAY!!!

I also have some pre-meet recommendations.

Arrive at the White Rose Cafe with a full tank of gas.

Eat a good breakfast (at home or the White Rose). At our mid-route stop at the Homestead we'll only have time to get ice cream, not a full lunch. Bring extra snacks if you need to hold you over till dinner.

We'll have the radios on Channel 7, sub 0.

If you arrive past 11am, you can still pick up a copy of the route at the White Rose Cafe and try and find us.

Before we start motoring, I'll need to get a confirmation (head count) of those that will be joining us for dinner so we can call the Triumph. Dinner will probably be around 5pm.

I'll edit my page one post of this thread with these updates.

More good vibes from the H.O.G.s. Here's what the director wrote to me today:

Kim,

I hope you enjoy your Covered Bridge Tour. We spend
a lot of time riding the back roads of Bucks County,
so we decided to post some of our favorite routes for
others to enjoy. You may still see the painted Harley
Bar & Shield symbols on the road, from our 2003 run.
FYI, Stover Myer Park next to Cabin Run Bridge on
Cabin Run Road makes a nice rest stop. The have a
public restroom and you can take a brief stroll along
the creek.

Have Fun,

Rich

Wowee! I LOVE Triumph in Princeton! They are in New Hope, too? That's AWESOME! Can't wait!

FWIW, I'm active on MCO, MINI2, and Roadfly and I've never heard of NAME CC or their route, and as such, probably never would have attended something that I didn't know existed. To put that another way: you can't lose what you never had.

Just thought I'd mention that.

Great dinner idea, HarMINI!!!
We love brew pubs!!!!

Now, if we actually get our MINI this weekend --- we were supposed to pick it on last Saturday, but there was some kind of hold up at the distribution center in NJ and it wasn't "released."

I just checked their website (www.namecarclub.org) and it's an empty directory on a server.

Jay,

Everyone will be sending out GOOD VIBES for the release and delivery of your new MINI before the week-end. Call your dealer, EVERY DAY and hound them!!!!

Tell them you have to have it for this FABULOUS run in Bucks County, and you'll commit suicide if you don't get it in time!!

Give them the drama!!! Worked for me!

Cheers.

Scott

Which way will you be coming to the White Rose? There isn't anything immediately available, but if you are coming up 95 there are a couple of places you can stop and get back on easily before you get to exit 49. There is an Exxon and a Texaco real close to 95 at the Business Rt 1 exit of 95. Texaco is a right off the ramp and Exxon is a left. I can't guarantee the best prices though. Oh, if you are coming from the Turnpike, When you get off at the Philadelphia interchange (28 or 351 depending on what numbering system you are going by) Make a right to Rt 1 S. About half a mile down you will see MANY Gas (Petrol) stations on Both sides. I usually Stop at the Wawa. Super is $1.59 last time i was there and it is easy to head up Rt 1 N from that point to meet up with 95 N. if you are confused, let me know.

Kim,
Does the Triumph have outdoor seating, or do they allow pets? I would hate to have Maxwell (My JRT) out in the car while we were enjoying some nice food and Beer.

Thanks.
