Just installed my red LEDs.

Install was a breeze. Don't understand what's so hard about getting the bulbs out. Items came quickly. Happy customer.

One thing I'd like to point out is they're not as bright as the posted photo below would have you believe. Personally I'm happy they're a little dimmer. Just don't want anyone to get the wrong idea like I had.

Thank you Mach V

Agreed. I didn't have a difficult time getting the bulbs replaced, I did have a issue with getting to the map lights but a few pieces of masking tape around the old bulb helped get them out.

I got the pure white light bulbs and there is definitely a difference in overall brightness at night. I think it's a great replacement. I also just ordered some LED feston lights for the license plate lamps. I plan on replacing those as well.

Hey, thanks for that!

But for the record, the license plate lamps are a 6148 bulb (39mm). Note that LEDs there WILL trigger "bulb out" warning on the dash panel unless you wire in some resistors.

Flash backs of my freaking BMW motorcycle start coming back. I tried to replace the back brake light on the 1100s with an LED a while back and got the dreaded ABS alert light.

I guess I'll have to figure out how to wire those LED lights in correctly. I really like the super white LED look on the license plate lights.

If I go LED for my interior I'll be ordering the pure white bulbs as well. When you say "there is a definitely a difference in overall brightness at night" is that an increase or decrease??? Also what are your general impressions of them?
THANKS

I think it's definitely brighter, but I would have to say that it's much more of a white light versus the standard bulbs. So it's kind of a trick. Is it really much brighter or just more pure white light? I think it's both really.

The Fast Mini bulbs are great, they give you just the right ones for the car. It didn't take very long to replace everything. I think overall the car stands out at night when you open the door, it really looks like a new modern car with the nice white led lighting. I think it's a great upgrade.

I went with the blue LEDs. Very cool looking, but don't provide a lot of light, especially the one in the boot.

That's my concern with LEDs in general. Love the look but really don't want a dim interior. However, if jimmieshear is correct and the pure white bulbs create a brighter interior (even if it's just an illusion) I'll be placing my order.

Any one else with the pure white LEDs, or someone who has at least seen them in person, care to comment???

I have the white lights for the map lights, boot, dome and puddle lights. At least as bright as stock, but the LED light is more of a bright white vs the warm white of stock.

For the floor lamps and glovebox I went with blue to match the other LED's. The effect is pretty cool, still bright but with some color.

The red is definitely dimmer than the OEM bulbs, which is perfect for maintaining night vision at an amateur astronomy star party. That is where a group of astronomy nerds gather on a mountain top late at night and look through each other's telescopes. The public is usually welcome.

Robin, what size scope do you transport in your MINI (or are your skies clear enough on top of your mountain to not have to transport a scope)? I've got an 8" dob whose OTA should *just fit* across the back seats of my R56 (but I haven't yet checked). I'd probably want to put it in and out through the rear hatch, however.

One of the scope companies has a CR/W MINI in their print advertisements which always makes me smile.

Great photo!

Hmmm. The blue LEDs aren't as flared and don't have all those dots around them.....

How funny, I was just thinking about replacements, so here is my question.... This is a nice kit, BUT DOES ANYONE know of a kit that would allow the motor-er to adjust these lights the same as we select mood lights. I would jump up and down and maybe do a few kartwheels (being partially handie abled) to ditch the promenant ORANGE color of the dash. To enable full choice of moods for ALL interiors would be priceless....HMMMMMMM

I haven't tried to fit any of the telescopes in the MINI, yet. My driveway is quite good. Darker than Fremont Peak, for example. My guess is that the 10" Maksutov-Cassegrain would not fit. So, I'd probably have to take the 6" Maksutov-Cassegrain.

I saw someone at Fremont Peak once who had a huge Dob (>18", IIRC) broken down and packed into a Ford Fiesta. There was very little air space left in that car.

Probably not. Most of these bulbs are not available in green.

I'm a new MINI owner and to this forum, and I can't get enough of this place. I just ordered the Blue Deluxe Kit, and I requested (w/ please at the end ) to change the map and boot lights to white. Can't wait for it to come in.

Dan: Early on there was mention of a warning about engine start before the dome light goes out. Could you further explain this issue. That is, should I expect the dome light kit to burn out frequently?

In general, LEDs can be sensitive to voltage surges. But we haven't had any reports of dome lights burning out at all, much less frequently.
