So, the red set is all LED now, right? No standard bulbs. Just want to make sure I understand correctly before ordering.
Thanks,
It's always been all-LED. But at first, I sold only an LED replacement bulb for the dome lamp. Then, we had an LED panel for the dome lamp, but only in white. Now we have the panel available in white, red, or blue.
I notice your website warns not to start your Mini with any of these LEDs switched on for fear of damageing them. How hard and fast is this warning, after all we start our Minis with our foot on the brake and the third brake light is LED. Is there a problem with the Mini voltage on startup, how high does it go. Has anybody done any tests.? Just curious.

That's just a generic warning for all LED replacement bulbs in auto applications. I don't have any specific information on voltage spiking on the Mini.

Car manufacturers put current/voltage protection circuits in their OEM LED lamps. Aftermarket LED bulbs that replace regular bulbs are another story. For the most part, they are completely unprotected from surges. There are some LED bulbs that have a built-in voltage regulator, but they are uncommon.
I've been using a high power SMT 194 bulb in my cabrio dome light. I've tried quite a few different 194 bulbs and these are by far the brightest I found. The trouble is, they have been lasting only about 2 months before one or more of the 5 elements starts to flicker or go out. My dome light is only on when a door is open, and in two months the total "on" time is only a few hours. I've concluded that they must be burning out from surges when starting the engine. After I get in the car, the dome/footwell lights usually have not faded out by the time I start the engine. It would be really annoying to have to wait for the light to go out, or manually turn it off before starting the engine. I don't have a solution for this, however all of my interior lights are now LED and only my dome light has the problem. It does seem to suggest that there can be an issue with power surges when starting the engine.
I just got mine on Monday and installed them right away. The blue LED just look awesome. The only problem that I ran into was that the cable for the driver side puddle light is too short so it became unplugged and I can't reconnect it. Do you have some sort of cable extension available? My Service Advisor at the dealership told me today that they don't do such "modifications".
Anyhow it is just gorgeous to look at... :D
i've installed all the lights ecept for the map lights. can't get the map lights out and not sure if i really want the blue in there since they don't come on when you open the doors anyway.
i put them in this morning so i can't wait to see how they look at night!!!

Sorry, no. But changing these bulbs is no different from changing with a regular bulb (the type of bulb doesn't make a difference) so I'd try again to get your dealer to help you out. Sounds like you might need to pop off the door card to reconnect that cable.
