No - That's waaaay to close to work for me, plus living in the state with the highest wind production in the country. I think I'll come up with a contest for the good people here.

I've had my R58 for a couple of months now, 2200 miles on the clock and the biggest thing I think I've noticed from my R56 is just how solid/tight everything seems - even small stuff like the sound of the doors closing is just better, higher quality. Maybe it's just the smaller cabin making it seem that way. Took a little bit of adjustment to get used to the MINI Connected audio system but now switching between USB and Sat is 2nd nature and I can easily find what I'm looking for with just a cursory glance at the screen.

You guys are making me feel guilty about not washing him though, 1 wash (by hand) in 2 months just isn't good enough. Supposed to be nice tomorrow, time to set up the canopy for some shade and do a proper wash/wax job I think....

Welcome to the thread, Chimera !

You've been a member here about as long as I have been. Of course, I post a little more frequently.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I still love the look of the first gen MINIs over the second gens but the workmanship and the power train of the second gens is improved and I don't think that can be debated.

Something else I noticed for the first time yesterday - the new MINI will shift into 6th even in sport (DS) mode without manual intervention. In the R56 even at highway speeds it would never shift into 6th automatically when the sport button was pushed, it would just sit at 3000rpms at 70mph.

The number of posts is obviously proportional to the number of MINIs owned at one time....

Hey All, this thread has really taken off in a few days

I am a first time MINI owner and just got my Paceman in late June. Mine rode in on the boat with Spa's JCW so it could keep company on the way to the Midwest. I still haven't seen another Paceman off the lot, but am really noticing a lot of MINIs on the road.

The mods so far are real simple ones including:
  • GoBadges Red Power Button Grill Badge
  • Black/White Checkered Door Handle Covers
  • Craven Speed Flex Pod phone holder (just installed today)
  • MINI Rear Mount Bike Rack
  • All Weather Floor Mats
  • Stripes/Window Tint installed at dealer
I want to get some more mods, but never really worked on cars outside of oil changes so I'll have to take it slow and learn as I go. I'm really interested in getting different color brake ducts and the LED kit installed and possibly blacking out some of the chrome, but find new stuff every week reading through threads on here and the Countryman forum.

So far the car has been a blast and I've already put over 2k miles on it! It's much more fun to drive than anything I've had before, and it's my first car I was able to order and get the options I wanted. I love having bluetooth so I can listen to my podcasts and music wirelessly.

The only thing I wish I would have added was the Xenon lights and black housings! The comfort access is nice but sometimes mine doesn't want to lock/unlock. And when using the key fob to unlock I have to be within a few feet of the car. It just seems like they didn't make the transponder strong enough or something.

For my 2013 MCS hardtop, in high class grey with the JCW exterior and interior package.....I continued to patiently waited as my car arrived at the VDC on Thursday and is expected to arrive to the dealer this Wednesday. If the ordering and waiting process is as exciting as the car then this will one the best car decisions I have made. Thanks to all on the forum for the tips and tricks.

Wow! The first Gotter Photo Contest!

This first challenge will be an easy one: Show us the strangest thing you drive by on Sunday. The Gotter Photo Contest begins at midnight tonight and ends at midnight Sunday night (your local time). This one's just for fun, so there are no prizes - but you will, at the very least, earn the undying admiration and respect of your fellow Gotters. As the self-proclaimed, nonparticipating monitor of the Gotter Photo Contest, I now declare that you have read all the rules that exist and offer this photo, taken tonight, as inspiration. Good luck!

Fun Fact for the Day: On an iPad, "Gotter" autocorrects to "Goiter!"

Great idea Spa !

Not sure what I find more amusing ? The need for a Puppy Wash or the fact they felt the need to let everyone know they are currently "OPEN" right next to the words "Open 24 Hours". I'm guessing the "CLOSED" sign doesn't get much use.

chanclor, I've seen your MINI in other threads. Bold ! I like that !

WG, welcome to the thread even though you're not a Gotter yet. Hope your MINI arrives safe and sound soon. JCW interior and exterior packages will be sharp and you'll love them... but you should have good full factory JCW !!o00

sorry about those extra "o00" at the end of the post, my brand spanking new Ragamuffin kitten wanted to post too... didn't have the heart to remove her work.

Question to the group...

Who here has cut their cable TV cord?

I did it almost 2 years ago now.

I do have TIVO since it has dual digital TV tuners, and my primary TV is an analog 60" Sony. It also provides a TV guide and recording ability.
I also use an HD compact antenna for over the air HD network stations ie CBS, NBC, ABC, FOX etc...

In addition I subscribe to Netflix, and have an Apple TV.

My old cable bill was $135+. My new bill is about $58. That includes high speed Internet, TIVO and Netflix.

If you have "cut the cord", what other sources do you use??

Cut mine just a bit over 1 year ago. My full bill was about $115, which included internet. Now I pay $50 for internet, $8 each for Hulu Plus and Netflix and I also have Amazon Prime, which is $80 a year, but I've had that for the shipping, so was already doing that before cutting. So I am saving some, but not a huge chunk. Maybe $40 per month, give or take. Still, that is close to $500/yr. I also cut my Tivo subscription which was $12/mo, so maybe $50/mo if you include that.

I also love "Sons of Anarchy" and "Justified" so when those are in season, I pay $1.99 per episode to watch, which is about $52 in total annually for both mini-seasons.

I use the Roku to watch everything. Love it and I wouldn't go back.

Right now I am working my way on Netflix through X-Files. I watched it some when it was on, but not a lot and I missed the first few years entirely.

These DRL's really get attention.
I get so many looks of curiosity.
I'm so glad I did them!

I want to put the DRL pic as my avatar. Does anyone here know how to do it? I can't figure it out.

SG,

Go to User CP then sellect Edit Avatar under the Settings and Options. I just tried and it appears you may have to be a contributor to use a custom avatar. Either that or my low post count prevents me from doing so.
