Your MA can't tell you ? And I guess you have tried the MINI USA customer line too, right ? Geez... it's hard enough to wait without wondering about unexplained delays !

Semi tractor-trailer in the center lane, didn't move to the right lane like a smart truck driver would. Left lane lollygaggers lined up like lemmings in the fast lane. Right lane wide open. Dropped it down into fourth gear while doing about 55 and gave it a firm but not overdone step on the accelerator. I looked in the rear view mirror couldn't have been more than about 10 seconds later and that tractor trailer was so far behind me, I thought it was a different one. But nope.... same one. Seriously smooth acceleration too, handles the 5-6000 RPM range with ease. What a pleasure to drive the little beast.
I can picture those parts of I-70 and you're right, there are always people not going fast enough in the left lane.

Question for those of you that are changing your own oil between dealer recommended intervals: are you still taking it to MINI or to your neighborhood mechanic? I need to get my state inspection this weekend and was going thinking about getting the first oil change (about 4.2k miles) as well. Anything to look out for besides using the right oil (I think I read 5w30 synthetic in the manual, but don't have it in front of me)?

This might make you laugh but, my MA says because it's a JCW, that it isn't produced as often as any other model. I wish it made sense, but to me, it really doesn't. To me, a scheduled week 36 production is just that...to be produced on week 36. I believe we are on week 38 now, and all I can do is try to be patient..never thought it would be this difficult..lol. I was basically told not to worry. That it will still get produced because the computer let is order it. I've also called ASK MINI and spoke to a person twice now, but they cannot give me a reason for the delay. The only thing that helps right now with the waiting is knowing there are a few others also doing the same thing as me. Sent from my iPhone using NAMotoring

My JCW had a mystery delay of 22 days, after it was built but before it was shipped to the port, which is Not Normal - unless you're MINI. I never did get an adequate or believable explanation.

Mine took an extra 10 days as the ship went around the north side of the UK rather than out the port and directly across the sea.

BTW, how much of a JCW is put together on this side of the pond?

None, unless you get port-installed accessories.

pop and burples.. ;)

I've never heard it in 4th or higher, so either it doesn't happen up there, or there is too much road noise for me to hear it.

I told myself yesterday I was going to go to work with Sport mode off because I didn't need it. Then a Juke pulled up next to me at a light, so I had to turn on sport mode, get in front of him, and pop all the way through the next 4 red lights.
btw, she will pop and burple all day in 6th in Sport mode once you have a thousand on her. my 2013 Cooper S Coupe (Bonnie) will pop and burple all the way home on the freeway in 6th and de-accelerating. my 3" Alta downpipe exhaust really makes the pops sound like shotgun blasts when she's hot

i have an automatic w/the steering wheel paddles and seriously love manual auto mode. i drove a 6 speed for 10 years prior and the manual stick feels as good as a stick w/o the clutch. add into the mix the turning off of DSC and DTC = pure glorious fun!! faster throttle response, no cutout of power on bumps/rougher terrain.

also, i am totally enjoying reading the new owners w/their minis. i got mine in april and have a nice 10K miles on her and got the modding bug too!

i did these mods:

JCW Spoiler
JCW Sway Bar (front)
Alta 3" Downpipe exhaust system upgrade
Stubby antenna
Cooper S tire valves
NCS Coded for VIM

Very nice... Has the down pipe caused you any issues with CEL's? I've been considering adding a down pipe, but the state of WA. has crazy emission standards. Have you ever considered adding a W2A IC? I added one... goodbye turbo lag!I'm using an Alta FMIC as a heat exchange. It's a pretty slick system.

You're definitely not alone. I ordered mine on 9/13 and the OL still just shows it as "on order". My MA told me that because the JCWs are a limited production they are not done as quickly as others. When I called ASK MINI to drill down deeper they wouldn't confirm that it's because it is a JCW (although they kind of eluded to it) and said that I was put into the infamous production pack (112) on 9/17 and they were collecting all the parts necessary to start the build. My MA thought 1-2 more weeks before they start mine. C'est la vie - out of our control. I'm just bummed because my dealer is having a poker run on 10/19 and I'm sure my MINI won't be here by then!!!

I am happy to report that my 2013 JCW HT is finally in production with an estimated completion date of 10/3. I had to call twice out of disbelief just in case I typed the wrong production number on the first try this morning. lol

Tell me about it. My '14 MCS Roadster is somewhere in the Atlantic Ocean en route to Baltimore (ETA 10/2 at 4:00 AM EST).

That must be extremely rare Ours took about 6 weeks to hit Baltimore from the day we ordered.

I ordered my Roadster 8/17, just before the Oxford factory summer shutdown. My MINI went into production 9/3 and is due in Baltimore 10/2 at 4:00 AM. Although my Sales Manager's original ETA was 9/26. I'm hoping for delivery the morning of 10/5, which allows MINI three full days to unload my Roadster, clear customs and the VDC, then make the hour's drive from Baltimore, MD to Sterling, VA.

I'm surprised none of my good friends took this opportunity to remind me that my JCW spent over two weeks at the dealership before I took delivery.

By the way, let me just warn you guys. If you ever call ASK-MINI, remember to use area code 866 instead of 800. Makes a HUGE difference.

CR&PW&JB and TG,

You guys went through the Port of Baltimore. From when your ship docked, how long did it take your MINI's to clear the VDC? I understand that ground transport varies with the dealership's proximity to Baltimore. Mine is about an hour away. Assuming my ship arrives 10/2 at 4:00 AM, as scheduled, I'm trying to gauge the approximate date/time it will be delivered to MINI of Sterling. I know, I'm obsessed...

Pardon us for not harrassing you. I thought your car was still at the dealership, waiting to get the wheels painted.

I should be so lucky! I think they'll mount my chrome driving lamps at the VDC, but that shouldn't take long. Thanks, CR&PW&JB.

No problem, Dave. Yeah, pretty nice to have a dealership that is in the same city as the port of entry and having a port of entry that is on the east coast.
