Greetings fellow gotters! I've had my 2013 JCW for 5 days now and so far just taking it easy during the break-in period @ 372 miles so far. I can hear a low grumble on deceleration but no pops yet for me. I am slowly putting on the mods from easiest to hardest, I suppose. I need to make up my mind soon on the tint % and whether or not I should still bite the bullet and spend the $$$ on the clear bra. lol This car is my DD.

Agree completely with this advice.

I did not put one on my first MINI back in 2006. Lesson learned when it quickly became a road rash magnet. So every new MINI since, including our his/hers 2013's, got a clear bra right away.

It was a bit pricey, but wow, am I happy I got the full bonnet clear bra on my new JCW. The dealer's installer did an incredible job. He took off the headlight rings, tucked the film in there. Took the chrome belt trim (up by the windshield) off and tucked it in there. Black wheel well trim, tucked it under there. Chrome grill surround, tucked it in there. Took of the MINI Wings emblem and put a new one on so he didn't have to cut around it. The only film line I have on my bonnet is far inside the scoop. One of my friends at work said, "what a waste of money, you can't even tell it's there".

As I said yesterday, I have a couple stone chips in my stripes. But the paint still does, and will for many years, look new.

Of the four MINIs we've bought new, three had the clear bra installed when the car was new. The one that did not, had a frond end re-spray last year and then the clear bra was applied when the MINI was 6 years old. Cost of re-spray: $1400.

Let me guess - he drives a 6-year-old Malibu.

My last 4 new cars have had the clear protection. I don't think I'll ever own another new car without it.

An 8 year old Mazda. With rather large rusted areas on the edge of the hood. Started out as stone chips, I'm sure.

Yep... same here. Best money you can spend on a new car, IMO.

Thank you for the warm welcome! Glad to be part of the 2013 crowd! You guys talked me into it, I will make an appointment to get the tint and clear bra done together ASAP!

Quick question, I put the car on ramps to install the NM TAI, and was surprised to see that there's a 2nd cat on the exhaust before the resonator. This is basically the same setup as the MCS. I thought the JCW is only supposed to have 1 cat in the DP then the resonator then the muffler? I am curious if I got jipped during production.

Thanks for chiming in Red. Hmm, maybe for N18 JCWs, the difference is the muffler and tips compared to the MCS? Can anyone else confirm this?

I appreciate it SG! Here are a couple pics of the resonator and muffler with part numbers for comparison to yours, if that helps.

I just looked. Too hard to take pics since no ramps, but there is a resonator and cat inline before the muffler.

Thanks for checking and confirming SG. I'm surprised this is the 1st time it's been mentioned in the forums.

Hello everyone,
Lots of rain in the Phx,AZ area today. Just thought I would share that my car felt like a rocket with these cool humid temps! Had a hard time keeping the wheels from spinning :P

Just got home 20 minutes ago. I was flagged down by an elderly neighbor who passed me while I was getting the mail:

Neighbor: "One of your tail lights is out!"
Me: "Oh no, that's my rear fog light on the left."
(I turn it on/off to show him)
Neighbor: "Yeah, the one on the right doesn't light up."
Me: "Nah, that's my reverse light."
Neighbor: "What a crazy car!"
Me: "Thanks anyway!"

It's always nice to see my neighbors got my back. lol

Now that's funny. Crazy rear fog lights. What a waste to get that extra toggle switch.

Note to people who live in the desert: When roads get wet, traction is not as good as when roads are dry (What, 369 days a year?)

Speaking of weather, Vincent was "christened" yesterday. 30% chance of rain, decided to take him to work and back instead of Marvin, the 2005 Justa.

Rained on the way home. First time he's gotten wet other than a bath.

He did not like it.

Lol
We ended up getting 1.7" of rain yesterday. Crazy. I really like the new blade wipers. Very quiet with great coverage!
