A year in Iowa and now 2nd winter in Minnesota on a Justa and now a Clubman.
What they have in common is all season tires. Blizzaks would be better, the 4-season are working well enough.

I think I just about woke up my whole neighborhood this morning as I backed out of my driveway on my way to work, and my Brembo brakes were squealing like a pig being slaughtered! I got about 2k miles nowon the odo and have noticed some occasional light noises when I back out of my driveway since delivery, but today hurt my ears pretty bad. I am curious if anyone else here has experienced this with their '13?

Ha Ha Spa if I had money its gone now!..lol.. But this is my first winter not driving a MINI.. All my other MINIs I had winter tires for them.. My first experience driving a MINI in winter with the then stock run flats about scared the crap out of me.. white knuckle driving and near nervous break down was enough for me ha ha..

I'm going to try them out this year and see how it goes. Right now, I hate the idea of having to buy new wheels/rims when the MINI is 4 months old. I'd much rather spent $ on other parts.

Same thing happened to mine. Only on backing up. My hubby said it glazing and brake dust. He took it out for an aggressive drive and was much more forceful with the brakes than I've been. No more squealing.

All seasons. I remember reading tons on how harsh the ride as with the run flats and I've been pleasantly surprised that I don't find them nearly as bad as others have said; so I'm hoping my experience this winter continues along that same path.

Now, I'm sure having dedicated summer /winter tires will (eventually?) make a huge difference, just not this year.

As a side note, I tackled installing the MINI mudflaps (fronts only at this point...they were critical due to east coast weather yesterday) and not nearly as difficult as I made them out to be (I'm not confident in my 'mechanic' abilities). First one took about 40 minutes, second one took about 10; I'll probably tackle the rears later this week.

My brakes squeal baking out of the garage in this below zero weather.
Does the emergency brake self-adjust on backing up.

Okay - I still squeal when he drives! But that's a good thing, right?

That's a good idea about the mud flaps.. How much of a difference does it make on keeping the car clean?

Huge difference. The mudflaps was the first mod I did.

Note to fJCW hardtop owners: MINI does not make mudflaps that fit your car.

You can get rears only due to the skirts. We have them. Not sure if they help but it looks good.

Here are the fronts, they are for the stock side skirts on the R55 , R56, R57, R58 & R59 . I mentioned to another owner on the forums a while back that it might be possible to modify the front to fit by measuring the JCW side skirt, then cutting them to fit and insert around the skirt lip, and seeing if the hardware would still line up. I guess someone could give a DIY mod, make a template and cut to fit. Its a molded plastic materiel so cutting it should not be a issue.

Then compare: In the front section near the wheel arch and side skirt.

Vs.

Gives you some ideas. Otherwise there is no factory option for the JCW side skirts at this time.

Linak - "You can get rears only due to the skirts. We have them. Not sure if they help but it looks good. "

Did you get the rear ones to fit with the JCW rear bumper ? They show just for the Cooper S rear bumper w/o JCW kit. If you did post up some pics.

Thanks and hope that helps.

That is correct. When we installed the rear sway bar and GP rear diffuser on my JCW, we tried to fit the R56 splash guards. There's no way, without huge mods to the flaps, the wheelwell and the trim, which pretty much renders them useless. The best bet would be to get some flat black ABS plastic and cut your own, but you'd still have to drill the body. And as far as the rear ones, IMHO what's the point? There's really no body behind the wheels to protect.

Here's three shots - side and angled from the front and back. I ordered it as a factory install from the dealer so I don't know the part number. I can reach out to my MA for the number if you guys would like.

Thanks,

Yea, its looks like they line up, funny on the parts diagram it does not show for the JCW on the rear as they state not for the JCW Aerodynamic package. Wonder if they modified them somehow were we cant see.

Here is the part number, and get some pics underneath and close to the wheel well. I bet some guys would now like to try these.

Rear Factory Mud Flaps / Splash Guards Contoured

82160415116 MINI part number as posted above in my link to the rears.

Thanks for the picture and I think you dog likes your MINI too.

I'm definitely hoping for an improvement once I get my rears on. Already noticeable improvement from the front flaps.

Interestingly enough, the install instructions the dealer uses shows how to cut the flaps to work with the off road kit for the Countryman.

Really...this is getting more interesting by the second!...lol.. My biggest thing is fitment.. looks like on the r56 JCW it can be done. Im trying to keep my hatch more clean with out getting all the road crap on my hatch..but also want the mud flaps to look nice also..i don't want them to look like I went to some truck stop and bolted on a piece of rubber..
