General MINI TalkShared experiences, motoring minutes, and other general MINI-related discussion that applies to all MINIs, regardless of model, year or trim.
If I see the other MINI in time, I wave or flash lights, but it is sometimes difficult with 4-6 lane streets, divided by a "suicide lane" or median, to spot 'em in time.
I used to get about 95% waves from the Minis I saw back in '04 and '05...but now it's more like 10-15% waves, if that.
I still wave, and I don't get offended if they don't wave back. Cool if they do, no biggie if they don't.
But I also ride a Harley and the 'wave ratio' is closer to 98% on the bike, I'd guess. The hardest thing for me is to remember to wave at bikes on my bike and Minis in my Mini!!
I get no returned waves here in SWFL. I keep waiting to run into somebody from sunshine minis or at least an enthusiastic MINI owner but so far no good. I DO notice a lot of very cute girls in them though!
I live in swfl as well, and so far I have gotten only one wave/headlight flash.
Seems that the 'wave' is a regional thing. I drove a Jeep Wrangler before the Countryman, and while living in Texas, I got a wave returned less than 50% of the time. Moved to Georgia, and every Jeep on the road waved (except the soccer moms!). Only had the CM for a week, so it will be fun to see if Mini drivers around here are as enthusiastic as the Jeep drivers!
I have been thoroughly indoctrinated. Waving has become muscle memory for me at this point. I do it without even realizing it. Sometimes even waving at parked Minis :p
I wave on occasion, depending on the sitatuion. But I work in public safety, and ride a motorcycle so I spend most of my time waving at other public safety vehicles while on duty or while I'm on the bike.
I'm new to the mini world, I've only had mine about a month.
Yesterday I was driving next to another orange mini, I look over to be friendly or acknowledge the other driver and she wouldn't even look over.
Very disappointed.

Reason: bad spelling
So I on the way to Katy's Coffee in Great Falls VA and I get waved at. My daughter comments that it was strange that someone got a wave to me before I waved at them. Their wave started the day out right.
NO ONE waves on my little island. Maybe a club needs to be started and get the word out and have some fun around here! In the meantime, guess I'll have to be waving to no one..
I wave, but I'm quickly finding that most MINI owners don't wave. Most of the time, I can spot a MINI from a mile away. Makes my day when they smile and wave back. I've even been known to see a MINI in the drive-thru at Starbucks and tell the barista I will buy their coffee so just wish them a Happy Day from the fellow MINI owner.

Thats awesome thing of you to do
that would really make my day
Well I have had my mini a week now and I have gotten several waves. My wife asked if I was going to miss the wave because I didn't have a jeep anymore just then we pasted a mini and they waved. It was awesome, miss what wave!

:-) I enjoy doing it....Who knows, I may get more out of it than they do. The last time, the barista told me that the guy was shocked that someone in another MINI would pay for his coffee. I was thrilled.....of course, I'd like to think it inspired him to pass along the good vibes.
