Do Mini people still wave at each other??
I get waves now and then from fellow Washington State MINI owners here in Seattle, but a couple of days ago I was on I-5 through downtown Seattle for a bit and got passed by "BATMINI" (plate from Texas); an R53 with the usual blackout mods, stripes and a full set of fog lights. What I found surprising is that my car is a very stock R50- full of chrome, stock tires and wheels, no stripes. It doesn't look like a typical MINI enthusiasts car, so perhaps he noticed the PSMINI.org club decal or an event sticker ("The Seattle Job") that I had on my window.
Either way, thanks to BATMINI for the wave. If you know who this is pass it along.

On Sunday, I'm heading up to the Schroon Lake, NY area for two weeks. There are usually a few MINIs there among the glut of tourist's Priuses (Prii?), and people there tend to be friendly, so I'm hoping for at least a wave or two.
I've never been a waver and don't think I've ever been waved to at home in Portland, OR but I took a road trip the last couple of weeks and got lots of waves in smaller towns and country roads but not big urban areas (San Diego and LA). I was having so much fun in my car I have become at least a part time waver. I'll always return one anyway

Let's keep the wave alive!
Here we usually flash our high beams. I'm more likely to get flashed back by another R53. I've had one from a countryman recently. It was late and on a dark lit road, almost blinded me with the xenon's for a few seconds, but I appreciated the gesture. I usually see more MINI's when I'm not driving mine :( . It feels pretty good when you get flashed/waved back though.
I was driving along last weekend and a Harley approached from the opposite direction. The rider gave me a wave andI waved back. Don't know if he was a MINI owner also or just liked my Roadster.
On 6/29, I drove the MCS from southern NJ to upstate NY; Waved at 3-4 MINIs on the way up, got 1 wave back. Driving around the Adirondacks, I've gotten about 2 return waves for every 3 that I initiated (nobody else waved first). And in Schroon Lake, I've parked next to this red R53 -- also from NJ -- twice in the past week, but have never seen the owner!
BTW, I got 34 MPG on the trip up, which I thought was great, considering the fact that traffic was usually running about 15 MPH over the limit.

Anuppercasej, I'm up in St. John's with my LB/W. Portland is a friendly, funky (weird?)town so MINIs are the perfect car! Maybe our problem with waving is that it's not PC to love cars or driving here. These cars ARE different. Besides awesome, is quirky the word? We might be a little bit crazy to love these tiny monsters...so waving might be like saying "I know you're crazy too!" OK I just explained it to myself and I'll start calling out the crazies. I mean...waving
Yeah second day I owned my Bella had a guy here with a s/c wave i waved back thought how cool,
there is another mini driver I see seen twice I wave nothing lol.. I'll keep waving rather she gets it or she doesn't *shrugs*

Almost no one waves where I'm currently residing. I'm hoping that happens to me one day.
I get no returned waves here in SWFL. I keep waiting to run into somebody from sunshine minis or at least an enthusiastic MINI owner but so far no good. I DO notice a lot of very cute girls in them though!
Just passed a guy in an R56 going the other way on a 2-lane country road. Gave him a big wave; he stared intently straight ahead, like he was trying not to see me. >:-(

Ok I don't get it. I mean maybe its cause I'm from Texas but if someone waves shouldn't you out of common courtesy wave back? I am selling my r53 I have r56 who ever I sell it to I am going to tell them about the MINI wave.
