General MINI TalkShared experiences, motoring minutes, and other general MINI-related discussion that applies to all MINIs, regardless of model, year or trim.
Ya, those Houston lights are like I remember from Idaho. Makes sense you don’t have issues. I had a heck of a time with timing my stops with those as they were so far from the stop line than what I am used to. Old habits are tough to break.
I have been using a version of the “line of sight” thing for years; since we got our 2004 MINI in 2003... Around here it is needed for someone who is a bit less than 6’
There is one traffic signal light in my neighborhood I frequently encounter... when I pull up to the intersection "Stop" line, I have to look through the sunroof to see the traffic signal.
Picked up a JB+ and a Sprint Booster v3 this morning.
I’ve driven my 2012 MCS for about 5k before the install.
I just installed the JB+ and took the car for a spin. It really feels like it accelerates faster off the line. I am digging it so far. I don’t like though how the JB module sits loose in the engine bay. Any recommends on placement?
im going to wait a couple of weeks before I install the sprint booster. I want to be able to notice the difference between stock, JB+, and sprint booster.

I would use adhesive Velcro like what comes with the Dinan Elite.
Did 2019 MITM this past weekend and won a trophy for "Most Interesting Owner Build" with my navigator. It was held in Salida, CO. Good people (and MINIs) there and a great club (5280) sponsoring the event. The new Eventuri intake worked great and got great mileage up and back in the mountains. The trophies were unique and made by a club member using MINI parts. Really good time.
Congrats and a cool trophy! I've made my fair share of "recycled" trophies over the years for a VW/Audi car show my wife used to organize. They always seem to be better recieved by the true enthusiasts vs this manufactured monstrosities you see from some of the larger events.
Have a new turbo setup ordered with Mario so wanted to get the current setup dyno'd so I can do a before an after. She put down 231/257 which was more than I had assumed I'd been running.
Excited for the setup to arrive and get installed.
Nothing really exciting, just an oil change, listened to a noise in the accessory drive (again, still the AC compressor, NOT the S/C,) and finally remembered to weld up the cracks where a poorly installed aftermarket exhaust hanger got smashed against a speed bump, or the like, at some point.
Did front brakes with G-Loc GS-1 pads
and coated plain Zimmerman rotors
yesterday.
Will get around to the rear brakes in a
few weeks. Haven’t had time to check
them out properly yet. Flushed the brake
fluid less than a year ago, so might do
that again after doing the rears, might not.
Quick first impression: Less grabby with light pedal pressure than the stock JCW pads, but ramps up very nicely and evenly with a little more pressure. Very good modulation of braking power all the way up to the limit. Looking forward to the claims of less brake dust and low rotor wear and noise compared with OEM
I can attest to the lower rotor wear, but as for less dust, I have only used the Carbotech equivalent XP-10 and those were dusty... Race pads, ya know...
The rest of what you say is spot on. Those attributes are why people like them for the track.
Do the drain and fill plugs on the manual transmission have washers? RealOEM doesn't show them (whereas it does for the automatic transmission drain plug).
