From what I understand, the con rod bolts are a weak point and can potentially fail at higher boost levels. They seemed like relatively cheap insurance.

Installed new wheels and tires are 19x8.5 245/40/19. I was planning on dropping it but not sure how much lower I can go. Rubs on dips when the kids are in the back.

That looks great, you mean you aren't lowered already?

While they look good, there is something inherently wrong with 19" wheels looking good on a car called "MINI"!

R113 rims

Have a 2012 Cooper classic convertible. Can I remove my stock 16” tires and rims and put on R113 rims 18” tires without any modifications?

Went to the dealer to have a rear wheel arch light repaired. While I was there they did a recall (their words) software update to the DME.
[Recall/campaign M120617]
Have no idea what it did other than change the scale on the Mini Excitement Gauges. This is what it looks like now.

Hey Post Number 1...
Welcome to NAM!
How long have you owned your MINI?

I am not familiar with those particular wheels (they need to be 4 bolt to fit your MINI). In general an 18” MINI wheel will fit as long as the tire width and diameter doesn’t change much. You can get the tire information from the TireRack. But most people find that going larger than the 17” causes a really harsh ride and the sidewall height on the tire is so small that there tends to be a lot of tire and/or wheel damage if the roads around you are less than perfect. Try a Google search starting with “Northamericanmotering R113 wheel on a R56 MINI Cooper”

Enjoy the ride!

Nope! It's the stock sport suspension the came with the S. I'm looking for lowering springs simply for the stiffer spring rate not so much to drop.

Finally installed my boost gauge and in the process I think I also solved my intermittent P1498 CEL.

The vacuum line to the fuel regulator was un-plugged.

Maybe put a quick tie on that where it slips over the plenum....will help to keep it frm slipping off until you can get a new hose line.

Finally had some time. Took off the front bumper and replaced the faded black bumper cap and while I had it off I also replaced the chrome grill surround with an OEM black one. Pretty happy with the outcome.

Took ok much longer than expected. Probably 3 hours all in.

Rear Wiper delete, blacked out beltline, test fit new rims to see what size spacers are needed.

Heading to Sneed4Speed shop early in the AM to change out my wing mounts and do some adjusting of the AOA. Pics later today hopefully. Oh yeah, and a stop at the local Krispy Kreme Shop.

Well, we installed the final main mounts for my wing, but discovered we still have a small redesign needed of one of the actual brackets that bolt to the wing itself. Just needs to be ~ 1/32" wider. That'll be taken care of in the next couple of weeks. I think this mounting system is sturdier, and a much cleaner install than the original brackets we had in place. Many thanks to Chris Sneed for the extra time and effort he put into these mounts and the assistance installing everything. Basically all I did was stand around and make silly suggestions. This thing is solid as a rock now. No harmonics when stuck behind a semi and smooth up to 85mph. Haven't had it anywhere to check the limits yet. Here's some pics of the work we did today.

Oh yeah, and for you Krispy Kreme fans... I did make it by the store.

Coming soon to a Grumpy R53 near me: Valeo single mass clutch set, fresh gear lube for the trans, and the 4th BBS wheel to finally get the snows off!

Got stranded on the freeway yesterday. First power steering died. Then all the lights started flickering.
Tach and Speedo stuck. Kept driving then engine died.

It was the alternator. Ordered, replaced it today. Then when i put the ac condenser back.
I used the wrong bolt and pieces through my Radiator SOB !
Ordered replaced. Now waiting for sunrise to get back it again and put front end back on.

Question. Any specific way on bleeding the coolant?

Thanks
