I have always used Magnacore wires on all my vehicles, but now that I have a chassis dyno, this is the first time I was able to actually measure the difference between stockers and replacements. These really are the best damn wires I have ever used and I have used them all!

I am contemplating the installation of a cold air intake, but there are so many, I dont really know which way to turn.

Could you swapped in new stock ones to see how much is degradation, and how much is Magnecore?

1) Discovered that when the door brake loosens up, the door will make a LOUD popping sound, as if the exterior door sheet metal was catching on the fender.

2) Discovered the door brake is secured by a 6-point star bolt, male head (never seen one of those before).

3) Discovered that MINI says it's a size 8 Torx, and requires an E8 Torx socket... which I didn't have.

4) Discovered Advanced Auto Parts was the only place in my town that had one.

5) Discovered it's really a 10.

6) Discovered Advanced had the E10 socket as well.

7) Discovered that tightening the bolt solved the problem, and that my fears of a broken weld on the back side of the A pillar door jam were unfounded.

8) Reminded myself that NO FEAR of a MINI component failure is totally unfounded.

Ya know, that is a great idea! I have an R50 with a set of almost new OEM wires on there. I am going to do that very thing this afternoon. We have the R53 on the drive on today. I also have a set of MSD wires here as well. Maybe we can do a little comparison!

Great idea! More to come.........

Blacked out the beltline last night with some Plastidip I had laying around. Then today I got a white paint marker and "fixed" some curb rash from the previous owner. Not perfect, but better than grey scrapes on white wheels! I know I was further away in the 22nd pic, but the rash is still in the same general area, about 11 o'clock.

Before

After!

R53 with GP2 Diffuser

Finally put my diffuser on after it's been sitting in my house for 3 years! Been planning this for awhile now and I'm very satisfied with the look. I still need to work on the fitment of how the diffuser clips on to the bumper as well as cutting the side trim, but other than that, it's done! Took saturday afternoon and sunday morning to do it... LOTS of cutting/shaving to make it fit right. Taking the diffuser on and off was a real PITA, though.

If anyone wants me to make a quick write up of how it's done, just let me know!

Nice mod . A write up including details on the exhaust and battery box would be great.

Nice GP2 diffuser on the R53, lots of work. Only seen only a couple other people on the other forums do this.

First I wanted to put an R56 JCW bumper on it because I saw a user called Maverick on minitorque do it. I went as far as purchasing the bumper, but ended up deciding not to do it and sold it just last year (which btw was purchased 6 months before the diffuser!). When I saw Orranje put a gp2 on the stock R53 bumper, it made more sense and cost less too! All the lines flowed right in my mind.

I've seen only 4 other people with it on. Most people put the challenge diffusers. Although they look cool, I liked the fact that the gp2 diffuser's lines went with the r53 as well as it being oem. If I ever got rear ended, I could throw part numbers around and there would be no questions!

Replaced the Hatch Switch Assembly. It was so easy, I cant believe ive been opening the hatch only with the remote for 2 years!

Bought a code reader... now I'm trying to figure out all these errors?!

My MINI is still sitting in the hot sun in my driveway. I should be able to start taking the air box and some other stuff out to find out what parts I need to order from ECS once I can get in there and take some pics.

Looks good like it was meant for the R53. More pics and what muffler are your running? Write up would be nice.

CSPEC: HD/CP: Thats the 2510900 - BMW Mini Cooper S 2001-2006 Gen 1, Tritec 1.6L, 138mm, Black from PRW- ordered thru JEGS.

Made up a couple of these 3"x3" stickers on cafepress. Does not add HP but it does offset the weight from my other sticker.

If your looking for the best, most stable and rebuildable harmonic ballancer, you simply cannot beat an ATI.

Not today but actually back on June 3rd, 4th, and 5th took a road trip with my girlfriend from just outside Columbus Ohio to a town called Wellsboro Pennsylvania (7 hours) to watch some rally. It was the Waste Management and STPR stages. We had a blast at our first rallys and are seriously considering going back next year. I took my GoPro HERO 4 with me and got some footage and I compiled it into a video and put it on youtube please check it out at
Thanks much!

Changed the coolant res over. Looks very pretty now.

Pulled the coil off, cleaned the terminals again and sprayed them, the plug boots and the connector in CRC 2.26 to stop any corrosion.

Used my new scan tool to find out why I have the trifecta. RHS wheel sensor. Which is a bummer because it is a new one from Pelican and a new hub. Time to follow the wiring loom and see if there are any breaks.
