Amen! Someone came up to me recently and asked about the new MINIs. I kept quiet and listen to them speak as they had an interesting point to make.

They said (to them) that the new MINIs have grown in size (of course), but that they look more German now than British. I thought that was an interesting point to make. Never considered it. But the "English-ness" is slowly leaving and BMW is setting in... Sadly, that is what caused them to look else where for their next vehicle.

To each their own I say...

The cable for my hood popped out of the bracket yesterday. Fortunately my indie mechanic was able to reseat [and lube it] in the matter of minutes and the best part - N/C. *

* I'm sure he'll make it up down the road at some point.

Well, the latest versions of Mini are completely engineered by BMW with BMW developed engines, chassis, and the rest. Actually the engines and underpinnings will be used on eventual BMW branded cars. It was kinda inevitable, for cost and obvious corporate reasons.

So I agree that Mini has drifted from English character to a more of a Bavarian flavor. The bloat factor seems to happen to just about all cars, and seems to be forced by safety engineering and perhaps a loud vocal sector that wanted to have a Mini that wasn't so Mini because they needed more room for some reason.

I still hope they come to their senses and satisfy those of us who came to Mini because they were so Mini in the first place by producing the Rocketman or something that size. Won't hold my breath, though. For now, I hope our Roadster hangs in there. Definitely a super fun Mini experience.

Here's part of an old European speculative article I ran across a long while back...

Doesn't hurt anything to wish.

Hit them with the Dip. I like the finish it leaves. They came out great. I put them back on the car this morning. Slowly working on the chrome delete. New grill should be here today. Headlight rings are next.

Nice! Be sure to share a picture of the finished product with us when you're done.
