I had a non Mini shop service my supercharger when I got my transmission changed. I think that they used ac Delco lube. It is worth the piece of mind.

Part of my Winter parts list arrived today...

2 x Strut Mounts, both lower ball joints.

Enroute is the oil pan gasket, CPS and Dip Stick O-Rings and Thermostat/Gasket.

Left to go: top/bottom hoses, hose connector (bleed screw), P/S fan assembly, hoses and O-Ring, PU control arm bushings, spring pads, endlinks, swaybar, springs and Koni Yellows.

One thing at a time...

Hmmm, tried on some new shoes today, what do you guys think, too much? Gonna wrap the roof, mirror caps, and headlight surrounds gloss black, and swap for an Aero grill. Yeah, another black trim Mini... I like them.

XXR 0 offset 16x8.25 with 225/45/16 Nexen something or others. Damn they sit wide.

Wider stance is nothing new to me. I'm still thinking. In person it really looks killer and I'm not a fan of the "stanced" cars generally, but I'm not sure yet.

If you want to keep those, you need to always wear a baseball cap turned backwards and have the subwoofer cranked up so the back hatch is bulging to the beat.

Well that's the thing, I think it looks pretty cool with them, but I'm not one for all that other crap. I'm a weird oxymoron.

Well, while I don't really care what you guys think, you all have pretty nice cars and seemingly good taste, so I will take this as a sign that I'm a bit too far out with these wheels. No one else has anything reasonable out here.

Those were only $600 with tires. Most people here in ATL think that some rubber metal equals gold.

goneFXcrazy, this is why we drive MINIs. To each his own. If you like it, that is all that matters. That's why it's called "Youification". I will say that it is different. I'm trying to get my wheels set out as far as I can without going past the fender lips. Trial and error.

I can relate, you really just have to spend a ton of time on Craigslist and get luck. I finally cracked and bought a new set last spring.

I agree, but these people also have pretty good taste, and I trust good minds. I'm gonna keep looking, these will probably still be here.

I would like to suggest that gloss black will be too much. It won't match the fenders and other trim. I suggest a satin finish instead.

Something is up with CL though, more than 50% of the ads are coming back as dead links.....

I agree partially. I will least do gloss on the mirrors and I think the roof to flow with the panoramic sunroof, they're all far away enough from the other trim, I think definitely I need to go satin on the headlight trim. Not sure yet.

Car sits high as well. But if you lower it, the wheels will scrub.

2007 MCS weekend project

Part A is a question. Part B is a project:

A) I was looking for some info on the vacuum pump. I want to replace my pump BEFORE it wears out. Do you have any experience with the maker Pierburg. I would have no idea who makes the original Mini vacuum pump. I have a 2007 MCS. Experiences with this maker anyone?

B) I replace my sway bar with an Alta 20+MM. I didn't go with my instinct and replace the links with it. The back end sounds like someone left a hammer under the trunk. I am replacing the links with Whiteline this weekend if they come in time. I am assuming that if I match the length of the originals I'll keep the load on the sway bar equal on each side. Any experiences out there?

Put the car into front-end service mode, then swapped out the original OEM radiator fan (which had a failed resistor and thus, no stage 1 low-speed fan) with an aftermarket TYC unit. While I was in there, I pulled the crankshaft position sensor and changed the o-ring, which had been seeping for some time.

As part of my next oil service (in 4000 miles), will be a change of the valve cover gasket, oil pan gasket, camshaft position sensor o-ring and timing chain tensioner.

The ever popular front end service mode.

Failed OEM fan resistor with visible break in coil.

Just did the same thing to mine. My fan burned up and almost caught my car on fire. The mechanic that installed my transmission pinched my fan wires against some engine wires.

Whats left of my fan.

Engine wiring loom.

Further proof that it is advantageous to learn about and service these cars yourself to ensure that everything is done properly.

You are correct on that one. Needless to say I replaced the fan myself. But to the credit of the shop that did the work they are making it right.

Kudos to you for doing the work now! I try to do as much as I can when I can... on the larger items though, I will most likely farm that out. (e.g. clutch)

Love the pics! Glad you can fix everything without lighting everything on fire.
