What did the sadist do to the masochist?
but seriously -- should this thread not be titled "What did I do WITH my Mini today"? The objectification of the Mini implied by the snippet "do to" is anathema to the anthropomorphic spirit of the majority of us, dontcha think?
The answer to the first question is of course "nothing!".

If I add a badge or some floor mats to my Mini, I'm not adding them 'with' my Mini.

What did I do to my Mini today? I wished her well on her voyage. She's currently traversing the Mid-Atlantic Trench. When she finally gets here, I'm going to add some stripes with her. I mean to her.

The hook has a "loop" in it right? Try sticking something long and sturdy like a broom handle through it for leverage...

No. If you add something to something else, you're doing 'to' it. Not 'with' it.
