OK rather than start a new thread, here's a question for all the autoheads:
Do U shift manually, sticks and-or pads, and if so, how much, percentage-wise (roughly)?

I know...I know...but I can't seem to get the hang of the Paddles, I must sit rather awkward, 'cause the Stick just doesn't work. 
BTW...I do know how to drive a 'Stick'!!

About 95% of the time I'm on busy city streets commuting from one place to the next, so I'm chilling in Drive for the most part. As for the other 5%, I'll use both the paddles and the stick. Pretty much just whatever tickles my fancy at that moment in time.
... as for the other 5% of the time, it's all paddles for me. I prefer keeping my hands on the wheel and I think the paddles are quicker than the stick anyway.

the only time Ive ever done full auto D-mode was the standing 1/4 mile at the track, sport on, DSC off, held foot on brake, rev to 3K, and let it rip. it was amazing how quickly it upshifted; pulled an average of 14.33 at about 98 mph for 3 runs. Woot! 
Oh and I tend to mostly use the paddles only because the torque steer demands I keep both hands on the wheel most of the time. The stick does, however, feel faster on up and down shifts.
BMW just introduced their double-clutch 7-speed manumatic tranny as an option on their 2011 135i and some 3-series cars, and it's getting rave reviews. I wonder how much longer until this technology trickles down to MINI?

For the new BMW double-clutch automatic, the Steptronic interface was dropped in favor of actual + (left) and - (right) paddles, chrome trimmed to boot. Purists are elated, but I've grown accustomed to being able to +/- with either paddle; it certainly comes in handy!
(however if MINI ever offered this unit, I think I could adjust....)

Well, heard from my MA on sat who, btw, is a dependable source of information, that the A/T option for base Coopers is being dropped from the dealer order database effective June 15. He does not know if this is temporary, since the last few weeks of the 2010 build year are nigh, or if this move is paving the way for a new A/T option for 2011 (ooooh the debut of the son of CVT?)
Or maybe Aisin is having trouble keeping production up?
All he knows is that effective the 15th he will no longer be able to place an order for a 2010 A/T justaCooper (the S models are unaffected.)
I know some of you are scratching yr heads and wondering about this, but he is a very dependable source of MINI-related information, more so than Motoringfile. Everything he's ever told me has been spot-on correct, so we'll wait and see.

have the kit for 2 years plus. It is perfect. More torque with the auto box feels much better. The only downside is the lack of limited slip differential which you cannot ad with the auto..
For me it is 90% auto and the 10% sport, dsc off and paddles

Hi! i just got my '10 MC a few days ago. i have a question, does an automatic come with paddle shifters? because i just realized this yesterday, that mine didn't come with paddle shifters. but i can still put it on manual mode, i just have to use the stick.
