Just tuirned 30,000 happy motoring miles. I use the paddles 75% of the time, although not when the missus is with. Don't use the shifter much, as my Subie Outback has it backwards, and I've forgotten once in a while.

Hello all. Noob here. Been lurking to get vital information, figured I'd register.

Just bought a used auto 2006 Mini hardtop with panoramic roof, 65,000 miles. And get this - the color is PURPLE HAZE!

Interesting story about my MC, bought from a used car dealer. Turns out, it was a Zipcar (not disclosed at time of sale, I've got an issue with the dealer)! My wife feels like the car was a stray dog we've adopted to give it good home. But so far, a great little car. Just installed an Ipod interface today for my tunes. I am having a problem with the roof, though.

I remember when Purple Haze was first introduced, it was originally called Black Eyed Purple but MINI corporate nixed that name, for the US at least, as too close to suggesting violence. Hence the color Purple Haze, a pretty rare color at that. I can count on one hand how many PH MINIs ive seen- and we have two of them here in the registry now.

Don't forget about me . I too love modding my MCSa and the results I receive from it. I just can't wait to buy Jan's tune when I get enough money for it.

 

Don't forget me and my two MINIs...a modded '03 Silk Green MC CVT and a modded '06 MCSa.

I drive the MC sparingly now, due to the CVT, but the MCSa is my daily driver/track car. With the MCSa, I only use the paddles locally...never the D or SD modes. When on the twisties, the Dragon or at the track, it's the shifter, only.

The MCSa no longer has the UniChip but received an ECU tune from Waylen last year. What a difference in performance! Also, instead of the Ferodo pads, it is now wearing Hawk HPS pads all the way around and has a beefier front swaybar, too.

The MC has a UniChip.

 

2010 MSCa PW/B. Still in the break-in miles. Learning to master to paddles as it is opposite of my other vehicles, it has lots of grin factor.

I have an '09 Dark Silver Clubman, it's my second MINI Clubman. The first was an '08 NightFire Red justaClubman. Traded up to the "S"....nice! I am thinking of adding on the JCW stage one package, real soon, to wake it up a bit more....anyone done this to their MCSa yet, and if so how is the throttle response impoved if at all? I hate the "dead pedal" but don't like the higher shift points of the sport mode....I would expect the stage 1 package to boost the throttle map nicely, while leaving the shift points a little more "normal".....any experience or input wopuld be appreciated.

Were any of the AT owners club at AMVIV? It would have been good to meet up there! We go to AMVIV every year. Add me to the AT owners club if you would...thanks!

We made the trek to the past two AMVIV's, and came through Utah both times to join up with some of your peeps. Not this year unfortunately...

I have a Gen 1 R53 MCSa which has now been built into a JCW equivalent (the "official" ones were not allowed into North America), and let me tell you, the extra horsepower really wakes the car up.

 

yes, I have, and the difference is quite startling. I too was able to drive my car before and after tune kit and I would not go back, despite the 2-3 mpg loss on average. Also, it seems auto owners are much more pleased with the JCW kit than the stickers. Maybe it's because the Prince engine and the Aisin automatic work so well together.

Just do it!

Just bought a '06 MCS Convertible. I have been shifting since I was 16, no more. I have a 350Z convertible too, no shifting either. The MCS is a wonderful car, I wish I had purchased it earlier.

 

2005 MCSa...use the paddles most of the time...how else can one navigate the twisties while sipping espresso and making love to the woman in the passenger seat
