06 mini cooper R-50 Auto , truck , chili red, Haven't put but about 150mile on it since i bought it. took it on the power tour for about 60 miles. Still a work in progress. almost 80k. hope the chain lasts awhile. Mostly girl miles.

Hello again. Haven't posted since just after I bought my used auto '06 Mini. I could write a novel about what's happened since. Mega problems with it, but luckily it was subject to a mandatory CT state 60-day warranty. So, here's what's been replaced so far (at DEALER expense):

Auto transmission ($7,668.00)
Sunroof (est. $2,500)
Steering fan ($?)
ABS sensor ($?)
Air bag sensor ($?)

Mind you, the car only cost me $11,000. Thank god I bought it from a licensed used car dealer and not a private party. All-in-all, it was in the shop for over 70 days since I bought in in March. But, on the plus side - I now have a working auto Mini with 2-year unlimited mileage MC warranty.

2010 Clubman S Auto 850 miles

I LOVE the paddle shifters. Hold the steering wheel as it's been designed, and the shifters are right where they should be. In manual mode, taking a hairpin turn in 2nd, and upshifting to 3rd can be done much faster than reaching down for the stick. Of course, the discrepancy between shift times might have to do with the tranny? The Aisin in the Clubman S rocks! Having driven sticks for my past 5 cars over the last 20 years, and going to the Aisin has made me wonder why I didn't switch sooner!

I have an '06 MCS I use the shifters for fun when I'm on the highway (not so much in town where I usually am) Too many bumps around here to actually enjoy the shifters in town

FYI everyone. Here is a link to a thread regarding how to change your automatic transmission fluid in the 6 speed Aisin. I think we may have finally figured out the procedure. Also note that VW uses this same transmission in many cars, they call it the 09G, and recently sent a notice to owners to get the fluid changed every 40,000 miles. It is also covered in the thread.

Just wondering...

I assume it's "no biggie" that it shifts for me when I don't click the shifter quick enough?

Big help, rather than it blowing the engine or something.

edit:

Damn, who wants to change my auto fluid for me, I hit 40k last week

What is the chance a VW place would do the change for me? Maybe like a Eurosports place in town will do it?

Yesterday I spent 2 hours in bumper-to-bumper traffic going from Stamford to the Whitestone Bridge, usually takes me 20 miniutes, thank god for my auto-shifter.

'10 MCS Clubman. Love the automatic. Use the paddle shifters all the time. All my trucks are manual and I was going to buy my Mini in stick until the sales girl had me drive the auto. I'm glad I did.

Yep in bumper to bumper traffic, I shift to manual mode and use the paddles to stay in 2nd or 3rd gear. The 2011 models do this automatically, but it's not hard to get the same functionality. I prefer doing it myself instead of letting the car assume I am in those conditions.

Add me to the list! I was pretty bummed about moving from the manual to the auto so that my wife could drive the car but I have to say...my 115 miles a day commute just got a whole lot better.
