My friend owns a G35 (Manuel).. he drove my car and absolutely LOVED IT. Paddle shifters shift faster anyway

Add me in, have the paddles but have not figured them out yet. Wife's car (we got it a week ago) but she lets me drive it some.

 

They aren't that hard to figure out, push them in (towards the dash it's to shift down) push them out (towards you) it's to shift up. I like them mainly because they don't let you shift up or down to far so you can't mess up the car.

 

True for the gear shift too.

The other day I was in full manual mode, and accelerating in a spirited manner up to the speed limit. Somewhere where I should have pulled back to go from 2nd to 3rd, an old memory of my brain kicked in and thought I was shifting a manual transmission, where you move the stick forward for 2nd to 3rd. Computer figured that was a bad idea, and wouldn't shift back to 1st.

 

Thanks, I was doing it incorrectly.

 

One of the great things about the Auto which is done automatically in the 2011's , is to sit in rush hour traffic in 2nd gear in M mode. Your starts and stops will be a lot smoother. Sometimes you'll need to upshift to 3rd and easily done with the paddles. Note that having the paddles on both sides of the wheel means that you can shift from either side. This can be beneficial if you are in a turn and need to shift.

As the list grows we definitely need our own badge. And one start working on one yet did we get anymore ideas in?

 

I am a new owner of a '09 MCSa. The paddle shifters and sport mode are fun enough for me...no need to do a full on dance with the missing left pedal. I will take my auto and drive it for its fun factor; plus the wife can drive it too.

 

I recently purchased a previously owned 08 Mellow Yellow Cabrio (Non-S). I require the auto due to a motorcycle accident a while back that left me with a compromised left leg.
This is a Gen-1 with the CVT, the last year they made them as the Cabrio was a couple of years behind. Tooling and parts to use up, I suppose.
I took a short while to get used to the way that the CVT operates, but now that I have a few thousand miles on it I find I really like turbine like smoothness of it in D mode, if I'm not in a hurry.
I use the SD mode quite often and usually let the computer find the shift points. If I am feeling frisky I use the manual mode with the shifter. I very seldom use the paddles, as they work the opposite of my CanAm Spyder SE5 and I don't want to confuse my aging brain.
It now has over 69,000 miles on it with zero problems.
I am having more fun with this little bugger than any automobile I have owned since my 1967 Formula S Barracuda fastback.

Embrace the CVT......!

 

I have an 06 MC which lost its ability to go into manual mode the other day ("EP" showing up on display). I hooked up an OBD2 to it, and shows that the fateful event occurred when I was going 34 mph. It still drives in D, which I am held to right now, but oh how I miss shifting through the back roads. Thoughts anyone?

If the displays show "EP", it sounds like your MINI went into "limp" mode, which may require a garage to have a look at it.

 

"Limp" mode sounds terrible...luckily the transmission is still pretty zippy.

I have an appt with the dealership on Tuesday to take a look.

 

I just joined the MINI Auto group. Just purchased a project, '06 former Red Bull MINI with 82k on the odo. I'm converting it to a MINI pickup. The place I bought it from also had a 2005 former Red Bull MINI with 169k on the odo. Still drove great, CVT still worked perfect.

 

512dart: good to hear from you, with all those miles and both auto's still working properly, that gives me a good feeling. By the way, does the 512 dart have anything to do with Mopar's? Geo.

Just bought an '06 MCS Cabrio Chili Red with the paddles.

Had to get the paddles so my wife could drive it occasionally...hopefully only occasionally...

 

Schweet.
