F55/F56 Ball park time-frame
Ball park time-frame
To anyone that has ever ordered a MINI, can you give me a time from from the day you signed the deal to the car arriving at the dealership for pickup?
I ordered our on Friday 4/17/2015 Dealer had an F56 allocation that they updated to my specifications when we signed the deal.
Got an inquiry report when we left the dealership with a Prod number:
4884752
Order Status: 112 (scheduled for Daily)
Priority: 1
Dealer Srch code: S05
Unsure what all that means, but dealer assured me it should not be a 10 week wait. Naturally, always skeptical what I'm told when it comes to car dealers and a sales commission.
Not looking for any hard fast rule, just a ball park time frame from others that have gone through this process.
When ordering my C7, initial order code was 1100 (means order was sent to GM. Until that 1100 code changed to 2000 (order picked accepted by Chevy), the order could sit for weeks (if dealer did not have a allocation).
(Was happy to hear the MINI Sales Manager say they had an allocation at MINI, which should cut some time off the entire process)
At 3300 the car is scheduled for build w/ week of build available and finally 3800, the car is built.
Guessing MINI has a similar production code method - was just shy of 8 weeks from the time I ordered the C7 until I drove it home. No ocean voyage involved.

Basically. It's about 6 weeks from that production number.
The day you sign paperwork has nothing to do with it. The allocation process has to occur and as u said they had one. MINI /BMW are weird in how they plan production.
Dealers are given "x" amount of slots per month . Some are justas some mcs and some jcw etc etc etc. depending on what they sold they may have to wait till the following month. Some times dealers trade slots amongst themselves. But they are trading just a build swap number not the actual car.
There is a whole thread stickie on how to track your car thru the whole process. You can even see it on the boat coming over. (See attached pic ) my car was on the BOHEME.
GOOD LUCK. HAPPY MOTORING.

You have the "golden ticket"
As long as the dealer has an open production slot with the manufacturing line your car will go into actual production/build much quicker than waiting for a slot. When I ordered my R56/S back in 2007 the dealer had a slot available. From signing the deal to delivery day took 48 days.

He mentioned something about May production. Perhaps April was filled with cars and mine would go into production first week of May. I'll call and clarify.
Thanks guys.
Have you created an account at the MINI Owners Lounge?
https://ol.miniusa.com
Go there and set up an account. You can use your production number in place of a VIN. Once you're set up there, you can track your production online. It isn't as accurate as calling ASK-MINI but it'll give you the basics.
I ordered on 3/7. Production started on 3/23, ended on 4/1. Left port on 4/7, arrived in Baltimore 4/17, where it currently sits, due to a work order. I should have had it by now, but such is life. I'm the exception to the rule

Registered at the Mini lounge yesterday. I'll watch progress from there. Still shows on order, but was happy to see it ID'd my car as a Thunder Gray Met Cooper S. WOOT!
POI from England for our delivery area is Georgia. Then a "car carrier" ride to SW Florida.
Hoping to have car by mid-late Jun (operative word being "hope"
).
I'm guessing once a VIN is assigned, production starts pretty quickly (dealer said it was approx. an 8 day process to build a MINI from scratch).
This is getting pretty exciting now.

Sounds like your on about the same schedule as me. I ordered at the dealer on 4/22/15. Just call Mini and my has moved into production with an expected finished date of May 5. Super stoked that things are moving quicker than I expected.
ordering your MINI
I ordered my '15S in August and it was delivered the first of November. The MINI website will drive you nuts. My MA called me to tell me that my car was at the dealership and I could pick the next day. On the website, the car was still on the ship.
I'm about in the same boat as you, although a little behind in terms of progression. Plus I went for an F55.
Production number 4884371
I ordered the day before you on 4/16/2015, yet my dealer had no slots available.
Current status says 'On Order', so I guess I've got a fair old wait still ahead.
One thing that's going for me is that I ordered from Mini of Baltimore so the journey from the port to the dealership should be nice and fast

Just got off the phone with my dealer. He again verified they had an allotment and our car should go into production around May 10. If that's the case, 8 days after, there should be a Thunder Gray Met Cooper S in existence.

I asked about assignment of a VIN and was told VIN's are not assigned until after the car goes into production. So I assume mine will show as "On Order" w/ no VIN until May 10 or later.
I'm actually more excited about this car than I was when I ordered the C7. The Mini will be our daily around town car so I will see more "wheel time" with this one than the other.
I can't hardly wait!

The MINI lounge is a great feature. Check progress, verify options, etc.. Gives me something to check each morning.

Forget all that build and configure and place order then wait 2 months tracking the ship stuff. That's so 2006. Try TheBigNewt's Mini acquiring method: 1) Visit dealership with list of options/colors that you'll accept based on your using the Configurator. 2)Dealer gets their inventory and we take a tour of the cars so I can see the interiors, wheels, colors (which look different than the configurator in many cases). I select one from inventory. 3)I test drive car (or not if I've already driven one before). 4) MA and TBN hammer out the car and trade-in deal ($2k discount on the JCW, sticker for the 2007 MCS, I get "put together" on the trades, oh well). 5) TheBigNewt drives back to Prescott in stunning new JCW Coupe, driving it like he stole it blasting the stereo the whole way. Takes about 2 hours. Works every time!

Looks like yours is moving along faster than mine did. Good luck! Can't wait to see pics!
Hi. I ordered my 15 MCS 4 door from MINI of fort Myers on Jan 17. Went into production End of February and then completed 3/5/15. Arrived in Brunswick, GA 4/4/15. At dealer 4/10/15. Delivery 4/11/15.
Looks like yours is moving along faster than mine did. Good luck! Can't wait to see pics!

I'm beginning to wonder if the F55 4 doors generally take longer to complete.
Possibly due to less slots the dealer has available compared to the F56?

I ordered on 4/16/2015.
Dealer today emailed me my VIN. Just called 1800 ASK MINI and I have a production completion date of 5/8/2015.
As suspected, the owner's lounge is slow to update. ASK MINI is the way to go. Super excited now
Let us know how you get on USA-RET

Guessing you need a VIN to use that number for answers.?
We must of been on the same boat, the Toledo. Is it in Baltimore? Owners Lounge still says it's on the boat but the boat has already left according to marine traffic.
