No, not possible without the actual hardware. This is different from BMWs stuff where they can just code it in.

Anyone know on how to disable rear parking lights check when switched to LED bulb?

(Below are copy paste from previous post)
I rechecked that I coded as following:
BDC_BODY 3061 BL_L_KALTUEBERWACHUNG nicht_aktiv
BDC_BODY 3061 BL_L_WARMUEBERWACHUNG nicht_aktiv
BDC_BODY 3061 BL_L_IS_LED aktiv
BDC_BODY 3061 BL_R_KALTUEBERWACHUNG nicht_aktiv
BDC_BODY 3061 BL_R_WARMUEBERWACHUNG nicht_aktiv
BDC_BODY 3061 BL_R_IS_LED aktiv

I get error message saying rear parking light left malfunction, rear parking light right malfunction.

The front parking lights (bug lights) worked fine after coding POL_L and POL_R 3 lines for each side.

Just making sure, you're not expecting to use E-SYS with that, are you?
That just looks like a ODB reader, but I may be wrong. I have a $5 Bluetooth ODB reader that works fine with Android.

i'd have to physically confirm, but i'm pretty sure our issue is that in order to get BT Audio, you need to have a COMBOX installed...i don't think i have a COMBOX...buying one and installing it should allow you to VO code it and enable it. this is what's normally been done on the BMW side so i'm not surprised if ours is the same situation.

I have no clue what E-SYS is, but I just went with the Carly adapter for "for sure" compatibility. I know it's just a glorified wifi obd adapter but I wanted to be certain it'll work (plus it's updatable apparently).

edit: oh i see, so E-SYS is another way to go about coding?

Man, so you're telling me there's hope?

Are you planning on trying this? I'd love to have someone else be the guinea pig here...

Okay.. E-SYS is the software that you use to code your car. It runs in Windows. You also need the updated database files (called psdzdata or something like that) that E-SYS uses.

As for the hardware, it's just a special ODB plug with ethernet connection that you hook up to your laptop's LAN jack. I got my ODB-to-ethernet plug for less than $10.

Ah got it, it's like your own re-coding system, nice!

I suggest returning that and downloading the bimmercode app instead of carly. Bimmercode has more options and has an advanced mode so you can go through the folders and select activ/inactiv etc the same way you can in esys.

Ive used both and returned carly and got a refund on the app.

I returned my Carly BT Module for a refund, but they wouldn't refund me for the app. Never did get it to work right with my car.

I ended up using it and it worked, all the listed things that apply to my particular car (not everything they SAY it can do, but what is available for my car as spec'd) worked perfectly. I'll admit, for $80 + $45 it was a bit of an excessive expense just to defeat some bongs, change the light settings, and get a shift indicator in the digi gauge, but it was pretty cool to use. The parameter monitoring and diagnostics are cool too, and I like the interface enough (I'm a UI guy so it's, like, it's ok I suppose).

Couple of notes for those who stumble upon this thread in the future:

- I never got a green light on the adapter, it was always red; run the app and try to connect to see if it works (you'll see yellow flashing lights if the adapter + your phone are communicating)

- I had to reconnect each time I set the coding for each ECU, as it seemed to drop the connection (probably some sort of reboot thingy happening in the background)

- changing the digital gauge options (I forget the ECU name) reboots the ECU in charge of that, so your gauges die and you lose your time setting which causes a yellow triangle; just set the time and yer good

- TBH the option descriptions can be confusing at times; best to x-reference with their website or contact them if you have a question

- I did all of this while the engine was running to keep the voltage up (I sat without it running for the first few minutes then the app started telling me my voltage was <12.5v and to run the car w/ accessories to up it; not a negative, I needed the a/c at the time anyhow)

- it's worth noting that according to the Carly people, this adapter doesn't work with any other obd apps on your phone :/

I will also check out this bimmercode app, thanks for the tip. I _really_ want sport mode on all the time, and fogs to run all the time.

Hrmm, seems bimmercode doesn't work on pre-F54 minis. Bummer.

Hi Folks,
Needs some help with coding in excitement lights.

Backstory - Ordered a brand new f56 cooper s and didn't select the excitement light package. I can see the car has the led lights in the doors handles. I VO coded the car to include option 4V9 (excitement lights) and coded NU_NBT2 and BDC_BODY however they still won't light up.

Has anyone done this? I don't even know if the lights are wired up behind the door or if it's just a coding thing. Looking for input here. Cheers!

NCS expert is what people use for that generation as I recall.

Will the Bimmercode App work with Carly's stupid-expensive module, which I regretfully bought, and am stuck with? I've gone back to E-sys, thinking that (since Carly is so limited and nearly worthless) it's the only way to go.

No. One is WiFi, the other is Bluetooth. But I agree that Carly sucks.

Carly GenII FOR BMW is WIFI. You sure Bimmercode can't deal with it?

I've had 0 issues with Carly. It has plenty of coding options and is great for diag. Also used it to register my battery. For the guy that bought the carly wifi odbII adapter, you can get the same thing for less than half the price at DetroitTuned.com.
Bimmercode is just for the F gen.

It will not work, I already tried.

Bimmercode says that a Vgate iCar 2 Wi-Fi OBD adapter is required for the app to work.

Can you point me in the right direction to do coding with an Android tablet or phone? I looked into it when I got my current Mini a year and a half ago. Carly didn't have an Android option at that point. I see they have one now, but is there a better option?

Reading back a bit (I was intimidated by the number of replies in this thread) it looks like this is my answer:

Vgate iCar 2 Mini ELM327 OBD II WiFi Car Diagnostic Scan Tool for iOS and Android with Switch Auto Sleep
Android Bimmercode App

It appears to be a lot less expensive than Carly. Does it allow you to do all the same coding?

Nice. I just ordered a 2018 MC Convertible. I can practice on my 2015 Hatch and our 2017 Cooper 4-door.
