I should clarify, I have only tried the bimmercode app on my iPad and iPhone so I can't speak for the android platform personally.
I bought the Carly first and could never get it to work right. Ended up getting a refund from Amazon for the dongle, but had to eat the price of the app. The bimmercode app + dongle is cheaper than the Carly dongle alone. I'm very happy with the setup.

From what I've read, the Android app does not yet have the full functionality of the iPhone app. It's missing "Expert Mode".

You definitely want the expert mode. It would be worth buying a used iPad mini just for programming. Seem BMW, and consequently Mini lean more towards the IOS platform.

According to a review on the Google Play Store, someone was told a couple of weeks ago that Expert Mode would be available on Android in a couple of weeks. That would be about now. I probably won't have my new car before February or March. Hopefully it will be available by then.

My Vgate scan tool arrived today and I just have to unlock Expert Mode on the app. I'm looking forward to recoding what I paid to have done 2 1/2 years ago that Mini service undid two years ago.

I hit a snag trying to get set up. I installed the Vgate iCar 2 plug. I started by following the instructions included with it, which said to install the Android app called Torque. I followed the instructions and set up the BT connection. Torque connected fine, but when I tried to connect using the BimmerCode i got an error message. It said I wasn't connected to the Vgate network. Does anyone know where I went wrong?

As far as I know, Bimmercode requires the WiFi version of the iCar 2. Sounds like you have the Bluetooth version?

What kind of things can the bimmercode app code? All I want it not to have to turn to Sport mode every time. I know there is a hard code to make the car remember the last setting. If Bimmercode does this, Im buying it today

Bimmercode has two methods of coding: shortcuts and "expert mode". The shortcuts basically do all the actual coding for you making it very user friendly, but much more limited in capability. While in Expert Mode, anything for which a hard code exists can be done, but you have to know the actual string. So the short answer to your question is that yes, Bimmercode can do that, but you have to know the string.

Here is a list of codes from another member here (apologies for not remembering whose this was): https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...u0M/edit#gid=0

Great stuff, thank you. I saw where there was a mention of Sport mode on startup on the Bimmercode app for my F56 so I bought it about 10mins ago. If this works, I can die a happy person.

I bought the one that was linked from Bimmercode's site. Apparently it is Bluetooth only. I did some reading and it appears you need to root the Android phone in order for WiFi to work with this device. Does anyone know if that is true? In the meantime I'll return this one and get the WiFi.

Yep. Works easy peasy. You won't be sorry. There is a thread in the F54 forum that lists some common programming using expert mode. They worked for me. Much better than Carly. Never did get that to work.

No need to root to use the WiFi version. Though I have noticed that bimmercode occasionally fails to connect unless I turn off mobile data (most easily done by turning on airplane mode then reactivating wifi)

Just finished coding my 2016 F57 with vgate2 and Android Bimmercode app. Totally happy with the results.

Did not use expert mode. All done with shortcuts. I did have to hold my phone between my legs at seat height to maintain WiFi connection.

Thanks for that. I appreciate it. I'll be working on it this Saturday.

I had my 15 Cooper S updated by the dealer and wiped out all my codes. I tried to code the car again today and some modules are missing! HU-NBT is gone, I have ASCM2 instead of just ASCM and there are other major changes. Does anyone know how to disable the seatbelt gong? There is no more 3000_ASCM_Beifahrer anymore. I updated the pzsdata and ESYS because I was getting an error when trying to edit the FDL for the BDC_Body module. I can still code but not a lot of the codes on the cheat sheet. HELP!

I struggled with the same problem after a dealer update. Many of the parameters changed or moved. I believe the seatbelt codes are still in ACSM, 3000 but are now:
SeatBeltReminder_Fahrer
SeatBeltReminder_Beifahrer

Hope this helps.

I just checked since it was getting annoying, but mine's not there either.
I have 62.5.002 psdzdata. I see there are three sections

Ive been in contact with Shawnsheridan on bimmerfest who seems fairly involved with the coding process. He suggested that my Esys Launcher Premium was out of date and wouldn't interact with the new Psdzata correctly. I updated my launcher premium (which now requires a free activation code from Fxxtokenmaster@gmail.com to use on virtual machines, as well as russia, italy, and china regions, works okay on non-virtual native systems in US,UK) to 2.7.1 and updated esys to 3.28.1 using the psdzdata v3.63.1. The car is running version F056_17_11_523.

Still not seeing the ACSM module with the airbag codes, only ACSM2.

Can anyone who has had their car udpated by the dealer and still been able to code post their software versions, and car firmware versions Please?

So I am a virgin coder on a F56S. I have read all of the threads and I just wanted to confirm the steps with the Vgate Pro Wi-Fi and Bimmercode, android.

1. Start car in "sport mode" and plug in Vgate-I want to program "last start mode-In sport mode.
2. Connect phone-Wi-Fi
3. Start Bimmercode.
4. Choose which changes I want from menu.

Turn car off and restart and check changes.

If I want to have the back fogs act as extra brake lights, I need to:
1. Go in expert mode and "activate" rear fogs.
2. Go to expert mode and change settings (previous posts) to activate change to rear fogs.

Am I close? Thanks.
