Thank you! I think my confusion came from taking an order vs being sold. Although we were told they couldn't even take orders until everything was sorted. Very confusing!

 

I spoke to my MA on Monday. He says the latest word from on high is October 3 for shipments to begin, and hopes to have keys in my hand by the end of the following week. The dealer is 850 miles from the port, and I think this is wildly optimistic, given the number of cars requiring transportation and preparation. I'm going to guess it will be about the 15th.

 

Your car is siting in Brunswick GA VDC? When did your car arrived to the VDC? What is given as the estimate date of delivery to the dealer on the Owners Lounge? Mine still is listed as October 8th

 

Yup, it's been there since August 2. It may not actually still be at the Brunswick VDC, though. I've heard some cars were moved to another location, probably the "Priority One" cars--the ones ordered by customers.

Estimated delivery date is October 9, with the usual disclaimer.

 

My dealer is about 48 miles away from the port so hopefully that means transportation won't be too much of a delay.

I still have no listed delivery date on the OL.

 

Neither do I, mine has been at the VDC since July 29

 

If I remember correctly, I believe mine's been at the VDC since August 8th. Hopefully we'll start hearing some good news soon

 

I certainly feel for all you folks waiting for your new 2015s. I know how impatient I was counting the days until my Munich European Delivery of our 2014 328 Sport Wagon and its subsequent redelivery in Spartanburg..but those were known timing issues. This EPA certification issue you're all dealing with was totally unforeseen.

It does sound however that MINI is attempting to make some accommodations to those of you with pending orders...which is a good thing.

I did just get an email from my sales rep today reassuring me that Mini is still on track with shipping out sold cars, priority cars (ours) first.

I hope he's right!

 

Just confirmed with MINIUSA - Cars will ship on October 3rd. All cars that are on order are Priority one and will be shipped out first. Looks like most of us will have our 2015 by the 15th!

 

Ours arrived at the GA VDC on the same day. Our OL still shows 9 Oct. I figured between last minute prep of the cars (like getting the window sticker approved, printed, attached, any pre-shipping prep) it might not make that date but we were hopeful.

We were told our car was moved to an off-site facility and was covered. They even sent us a picture of a building with Mini's and one BMW in it. But looking at the shear size of the VDC, and knowing they have 2 months of F56's sitting somewhere, I'm a little suspect they are renting a space that large to store these cars. At this point we don't seem to care... we just want the car.

I doubt we'll hear anything. Mini has been pretty silent about this. I expect the next thing we'll hear (voluntarily) is from our dealer telling us when the car will arrive.

Looking back at our paperwork, we ordered our car on 28 Jun. If we get it on 15 Oct that will be 110 days! The hardest part of this is that just before we found out about the delay we were getting ready to pick up the car. It was only a week away and we were just about to sell our old car. That was almost 2 months ago. Since then we have settled into the reality of the delay and there is nothing we could do about it. We had actually ordered a 2014 model before we ordered the 2015. We ordered that car when Mini published news that there would be mandatory bundles on 2015 orders that would have increased the price over $1,000. So we rushed to get one of the last 2014's. When Mini cancelled that bundling scheme we ordered a slightly different 2015. The dealership was fine with it. They said they would have no problem selling the 2014. At one point they even told us they traded it to another dealer. But they didn't. It arrived at the dealership. And it sat there... and sat there... and last we checked it was still there. It looks just like the 2015 that we ordered.... and it just sits there. Well over a month. Not a good sign! But it may be part of the reason they gave us additional discount on the car due to the EPA issues.

This car is my wife's car. To say that her excitement has dwindled is an understatement. Maybe once we get closer to picking up the car it will come back.

 

It looks like I ordered my car a week early than Rocket man and also my car arrived into Brunswick VDC about week early and my OL still say Oct 8th.

You are probably Week 27 production, we were Week 28. I noticed most of the Week 27 folks are showing 8 Oct. That is probably the earliest possible date, or maybe now that is 15 Oct. A year from now we'll probably look back at this and get a chuckle. But the last 2 months has been anything but a chuckle.

I have a small pile of mod parts sitting across the living room. I've had them so long now I probably can't return them and we don't even have the car yet.

Why didn't you just buy the 2014 and try for a discount? Same car and you could be driving it now!

 

If you haven't done so already, be sure to join the Houston MINI Motoring Society (HMMS.org, also on Facebook). Great bunch of people, drives to go on, discounts from local dealers, and monthly meetings (first Saturday of every month). I was a member until I moved to Arkansas--even president a couple of years. Tell 'em Deb sent ya'!

 

My MCS is officially sailing the high seas! She's currently aboard the Asian Emperor, and scheduled to be in Port Hueneme on 10/15. Dealer is estimating my delivery date around 10/20-10/22, assuming no additional delays at the VDC.

 

Good question. And the dealership offered to discount the 2014 but not much. In fact we got the same discount on the 2015. The 2015 added the auto climate control which the 2014 didn't have, and we added the LED fog lights. The other reason we wanted the 2015 was for better resale value. So weighing all those, my wife decided to wait it out. In the long run it will be better. And only 2 (?) weeks left to wait.

It is actually even worse... remember back when they were limited the H/K option during the ordering period and you had to get it added by the regional sales person? [seems like so long ago!} So our first order was configured for a 2014 and was waiting in the system to get the H/K added. But before it got approved the order moved to the next stage and could no longer be modified! So the dealer entered another order just like it but with the H/K. That is the car that is still sitting there. The other car was ALSO delivered and they both sat there side by side, one with H/K, one without H/K. We even have a picture of the two. The non H/K sold, the H/K has not. I thought that was odd.

So for all those owners whose cars were built back in Jul and Aug and have been sitting at the VDC... what updates did our cars not get either on the production line or from the dealerships that we should address before delivery?

- Software updates? I know there was a software update to address a stalling issue. But I can't recall the details.

- Drivers side washer nozzle fix. There were at least two fixes to this that I've read about.

What else? I'd like to give our dealer a short list of things they should take care of before we take delivery so that we don't end up back at the service shop, or worse yet the car stalls and is a hazard on the road.

It could be possible since we aren't very far from Baltimore but I'm not going to hold my breath.

The idea that I could finally have my car in A WEEK is crazy exciting though!!!

YES!!!!!!!

 

Mine says October 3rd so at least they're not all the same and may reflect some reality.

 

You are closer to Baltimore than me... could be real?!
