If there is ever any "compensation" to be made, like with Hyundai, it would only affect those who already purchased a 2014 model that had a Monroney sticker printed with the incorrect MPG information. If you ordered a car, it is your option to not proceed with the sale after learning the new MPG figures (should they change) and then there would be no requirement for compensation. You won't have a leg to stand on if you go crying that you can no longer buy your ordered Cooper because it now gets 39 MPG instead of 41 MPG.

I don't know if anyone else has noticed this, but I have seen 2014 Cooper S automatic F56 models on dealer lots with different MPG information - off like 1-2 MPG. And no one seems to know why and most MAs had no idea about it until I pointed it out to them.

"Again, is everything perfect in MINI wonderland? No, but it’s very close and I can’t wait to drive the 2015 JCW. In the meantime I would like MINI to investigate the following:

Fuel economy is disappointing. MINI advertises 30/41 mpg figures but we oscillated between 31 and 33 mpg based on 80% highway driving. Taking for granted that we drove hard and changed drivers often, it seems the only way to attain an acceptable fuel mileage (i.e. 39 mpg) is to turn on Burnside Green Mode..."
I saw that as well and thought it was very interesting - and more "real world".

Canada Waiting Too

I have a 2015 S sitting on a dock in Halifax Nova Scotia since July 30th. Canadians also require EPA certification, I would guess this was agreed to as part of the North American Auto Pact Agreements.
I have been following this discussion with interest. My dealer has only 6 cars tied up currently. My dealer is throughing in some accessories for the inconvenience.
This is my first Mini since the original Mini of the 60's with sliding side windows, and this whole thing is unfortunate, but I am prepared to wait.

I'm in Canada too (beautiful Québec City) and I'm waiting for my 2015 MCS Hardtop (currently driving a 2011 Clubman S). I ordered my car on June 2nd and initially had an August 20th delivery date.

Now, like all of you, it's been pushed back to October. For me, it's not really inconvenient as my Clubman is still alive and well. If it's pushed back after October 15th, that could be a problem as I need winter tires at this date and my current winter tires are not usable (the new MCS has different size tires).

But my question is: how do you Canadian folks follow your car and know where it's at? The MINI Canada website doesn't seem to offer the same option as the MINI USA website for finding and following the build and the shipping of the car. I tried using the MINI USA website and all the numbers I tried to throw at it are not recognized. I would really like to know if my MCS is currently in Halifax or not. Thank you.

if you have the VIN # plug it into Wallenius.com, a Swedish shipping company. They have a tracking feature. Without looking it up I think the spelling is close. You will at least know when it landed. Your car could be sitting along side my Thunder Gray.

Yes.....But it should have been given to you way back shortly after the car was ordered. You only need to put in like the LAST 7 letters/numbers. It will usually start with a letter followed by 6 numbers.

My dealer gave me the last 7 digits, which I put into the BMW VIN decoder. This is cool, it gives you a pdf with your specs.

http://www.bmwarchive.org/vin/bmw-vin-decoder.html

Then I put my VIN in the 2wglobal (aka WW, aka 2W, aka Wallenius Wilhelmsen) site and was able to follow the ship to Halifax. I got some webcam shots of the ship leaving and entering the harbours.

https://offices.2wglobal.com/offices...uickSearchPage

https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...status-40.html

If you work for CN or ship with CN, or possibly if you can come up with a pick-up number from 2W, you can follow your car around the stock yards.

This is the sticker from my 2014 S. I took delivery the 1st week in June. I am averaging 31-34 in mid in town (can't do green) and @39 all highway. I'm interested to see if the 2015 stickers change. Is anything else major supposed to be different between 14 and 15? Delays suck, I sure had my share. Hope Mini gets this worked out and you get your cars in October as promised.

That's actually pretty encouraging. I get 33 on my '07, lead footed as I am. And highway is pretty much all I ever drive.

Did your washer nozzles stop leaking?

No. I posted in that thread today. I had the service department just drain it Saturday. Too much trouble trying to keep it cleaned up. I may put some diluted something in it when it gets cooler or maybe even water. I don't know...I probably shouldn't be driving around with no washer fluid at all, but for now it's nice to not have to stress about it.

Sorry to hear that. I wonder if regular washer fluid would be less damaging. That seems to be some nasty stuff they put in at the factory!

(You should see what we bought in Dallas last week. Hint--it's a car, but not a MINI. Sort of a late--very late--mid-life crisis thing. We might just bring it to the next meeting...)

Hi Hammerhands
I actually knew of the problem the day before my dealer shared the letter he had from BMW Canada indicating there was a hold and no news until after Aug.25th. This site is quicker at getting info out than the dealer. As the US customers were being told Oct. 1st, I went back to the dealer and he then showed me the Oct. 1st letter. I knew of the hold about Aug. 11th. Apparently BMW Canada is authorizing $600 of accessories as compensation.

^^ I'm in the US but I was offered the $600 worth of accessories.

We should be getting all weather mats for her car (i had already bought mine!), the colorful key fobs and lanyards, shorty antennas, license plate frames, and black jack mirror covers for mine.

the only things i would've bought on my own would've been the floor mats and antennas. still excited about getting some other fun stuff though!

also, testing should be wrapping up! let's hope everything went smoothly!!!!

Why do you say that? Do you have some information we don't have? If so, please share.

No, unfortunately, no news. It's just the way this whole thing has been mis-handeled....What's to ensure that the testing was done and completed? Obviously there was zero accountability for the initial screw up, why would we think they would care about any time line. Sorry, no news here...just feeling the pain of the wait..:(:(:(

You don't think that Mini wants to sell cars as much as we want our cars, unfortunately, we are dealing with government who has no sense of our time. Hopefully the test took place and now we move to the next step of Mini doing their updates for EPA. I just want my car!!!

Well I would think the government would want their state and federal taxes on all these cars, so would want the testing done (but we all know how slow gov agencies can be.) And of course Mini would care, they have nothing to sell causing a loss in revenue. My SA said the regional manager was coming for a meeting today, so we'll stop by tomorrow to see what went on. We're all feeling the pain of the wait, but if one doesn't doesn't like it they have no responsibility to purchase. Due to our circimstwnces I'm not sure what's going to happen as I'm too worried about my husbands car not holding out long enough.

You're living in a pipe dream if you think that some employee in EPA cares about collecting sales tax or whatever. They don't care. They get their bonus no matter what. Is this country great or what?

I'm a federal employee, and trust me things move SLOWLY around here. Think of it this way: it'll be a great Christmas present, maybe the dealer will fix it up with a big bow!

It is easy for Mini fans to want too blame the 'evil' government, but the responsibility to test the cars is squarely with Mini/BMW. The rules and procedures and test requirements are all published and a large manufacturer like BMW that sells hundreds of thousands of cars in the US each year knows them very well. Proposed changes to these rules are posted years in advance so there is no reason for a late surprise. BMW tested these cars in 2013 but there seems to be some discrepancy in the test because it seems they were selling the 2014's through some sort of exemption. The terms of that exemption had to have been known to BMW/Mini. Whether it was some sort of unfortunate combination of the way the model change over happened, or some other issue that resulted in the 2015's not being tested until this week we'll probably never know. But the bottom line is that it is the manufacturers responsibility. Hopefully the testing was completed this week. Somewhere earlier in this thread it was reported that the processing timeline is 5-6 weeks which means approval by 1 Oct is still a risk unless someone is working hard to reduce that timeline.

Our car has been sitting in the VDC since 2 Aug and we are just as annoyed and frustrated as anyone. But this is Mini's responsibility. We have finally reached an equitable agreement on compensation so we will wait until ~9 Oct to get the car we ordered back in Jun. But it shouldn't have been this hard. Once we get the car, and time has pasted we'll probably have a different feeling about this episode, but until then it is no fun.

Being in the governments hands, the right palm just needs to be greased and the timeline will improve rapidly.
