I just wish (as I'm sure everyone else does) that there was more information about this. I think this is a bit ridiculous (again, so does everyone).
Mad.
Not looking forward to this wait.
Anaphor...Is your MINI on the Torrens being delivered to Baltimore? Mine is and will be arriving there on Thursday. I called Monmouth MINI and spoke to my MA and the word is the same, except delivery from Baltimore will take a few more days to Monmouth as opposed to the cars being delivered from Port Elizabeth, N.J. Even MORE of a wait......:(
Oh I know where that is. That used to be the old Mitsubishi dealer building in Oakhurst. Right? Weird that yours has to go through Baltimore. We ordered ours at Princeton Mini which is closer to Philly/Balt area but ours is sitting in Elizabeth Waiting ... :-(

Yes....in Oakhurst. Catena also owns the building next to it which sells Maseriti and has a few Ferrari's on the lot. The first dealership there was Schneider and Nelson Prosche/Audi which since has moved to Long Branch; then Mitsubishi moved in, then Jaguar. Schneider and Nelson Porsche/Audi just picked up Jaguar from Catena as Schneider and Nelson agreed to allow Catena to sell Audi in close proximity to them . Very confusing, but after all the ONLY MINI dealer is Catena in this area. I bought my first MINI from Princeton...Oakhurst is only 25 min. up the Pkwy for me.
My mini just arrived at port Hueneme today on the ship Othello. I hope it doesn't sit in the sun with interior temps well over 100 for the next six weeks. We will see.

Yeah I've been thinking about that too. Hopefully this doesn't take as long as the projections show, but who knows. Govt. agencies tend to drag their feet with stuff like this, but maybe someone will light a fire under someone's ****.
MINI has informed me (as far as the MINI's sitting at the VDC in California) are all being wrapped and stored in covered storage facility at the VDC. So those worried that the cars are just sitting in the sun don't need to worry.

Next thing you know, someone will pop up here to say their car needs to "breathe" and will suffer being wrapped up for six to eight weeks
Perhaps I need to edit my signature picture to show the car wrapped up...
Damn you and your wifey are picky. I thought i was picky lol.
But anyways, I am famous with all my mishaps with my brand new F56 on this forum already.
....
Picky? Who doesn't want their new car to be perfect. It sucks what happened to your car, but that happened after you took ownership of it. If Mini had done that to your car before you took ownership I'm sure you would make our concerns look minor.

As others have said, if the wait bothers you cancel your car or figure out what it'd take to make it up to you and make a proposal to Mini USA.
We have been in touch with someone new from Corporate and our dealer and have made some progress here.

It's not quite so simple as that letter would indicate.
There is always more to the story but yes, they have not submitted the application yet because they have not done the testing yet. You can search the EPA's website for the application on the F56. Last time I looked I couldn't find anything on the F56, not even the 2014's. Lots of stuff on the R series cars.
Maybe the short run of 2014 models didn't leave time to get the 2015's tested before they switched over. Definitely a big mistake in planning on someone's part.

I'm sure there is an established timeline to process the application and test results. It has been stated earlier that it is 5-6 weeks. If that is the case and the test is not even conducted until next week, it looks like 1 Oct may be optimistic. I'm sure there are other manufactures trying to get their applications through to make the 1 Oct list, should EPA put Mini ahead of these other manufactures who planned adequately? This is Mini's fault, not EPAs. Lots of Mini fans here and everyone loves to hate on the Government, but this is squarely Mini's fault. They are probably not going to admit it though.

This would be nice. Our car is at the GA VDC and there is not a lot of covered space. We have not heard anything from Mini on how the cars are being stored although they said they would tell people what they are doing. Mini has certainly not been very communicative on this issue.
We did get a copy of a letter from David Duncan. It does not have a date and I take this to be the initial letter telling 'Motorers' what is up. The main point of the letter is...
"The situation is this: the availability of the 2015 model year MINI Hardtop has been pushed back to October as we await EPA certification results. Engineers are working diligently with the EPA to complete testing and to arrive at a certified MPG rating as soon as possible. ... "
I think that letter was posted earlier. It says dealers have been empowered to assist... but it was not until a few days ago that our dealer was informed what they can do. They were just as in the dark as their customers.
Our car was dropped off at the VDC on 2 Aug and our projected delivery in the OL is 9 Oct.
