I was just wiping down the engine compartment after washing and came across this thing. It's a nut with an attached washer. I found it here:





Any idea what this might have fallen off from? I looked around and didn't see a spot for it.

 

Looks like a nut for the air duct to the air box. Is it missing either of the two?

 

Where exactly should I be looking for the air duct/air box? Sorry

 

Could be a bolt from the top of the strut tower.

 

 

Thank you! I had the dealer swap out the black piece on the bumper (where the plate mounts) when I purchased the car because there was a crack in it. They had to remove the bumper and I assume forgot to put these back on. You were right. I'm missing both!




Going to the dealer today to have them replace the nuts. I only found one.

I went to the dealer. They didn't have the part in stock so they pulled it off a loaner car.

 

That's scary, not necessarily for that part, but what if it was something more important on the engine that was left off or not torqued correctly. Was this at Steven's Creek?
