2011 R56 Reverse light wire for Backup Camera

Looking to install a reverse camera on my 2011 R56 (Non-turbo) - found what appears to be the bundle that goes to the reverse lights in the bumper. Can't seem to find a consistant answer which would be the wire powers the reverse light.

Which equals Reverse?

Clearly Brown is neutral. Has anyone done this install from this location?

Also, has anyone has a problem with this triggering a warning light about a bad bulb? I've seen some reference to that issue.

Found results that didn't help:

Look at the color of the wire at the bulb socket. The color will be the same further back in the wiring harness.

The colors in your photo don't match the wiring diagrams: https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/r...ights/CkKgFoVc
What is the connector in the picture?

@RKW - You're right, I got lazy, felt 4 lines going in to the lamp housing (didn't feel like climbing on the ground) found 4 wires breaking away from the main bundle heading to the right direction and "assumed" that was the right lines. That'll show me.

Today I disconnected the connector from the housing and the colors match the wiring diagram.

Diagram

I don't understand the diagram - both the Green and Blue/Gray go in to the housing for the reverse lights? Brown being the ground, which is the proper positive?

Has anyone traced it's path back in to the car from the bulb housing? I removed the jack hoping it was in the well (no luck) - before I start pulling moldings off looking for it, was hoping to be pointed in the right direction. Trying to find them in the main bundle seems ripe for making a mistake.

Is your light the combo unit with rear fog in the middle and a reverse light at each end?

It looks like each bulb is on a separate circuit, so you can choose either wire for your purposes. On that wiring diagram, it shows the same wires being used for the S, the difference being that the S has separate left and right side backup lamps on the bumper.

That is the lamp housing. I guess two lines are run since traditionally there has been a reverse lamp on the left and right of the car and this gives it some amount of redundancy.

Thank you for talking this thru.

Still curious where the entry point is for these wires.

ZenDaddy, Same gere.. let me know if any of those 4 wires in your post 1 connects to the reverse light. Please save my effort in removing my boot liners.

Found out.. the 4 wires in your first post is for the Latch. Follow the thick bundle further towards the rear and there will be 4 wires branching down (reverse - green + grey/blue, ground - brown, fog) towards bumper.

Thanks for the heads up. Since there are very few (one) mounting spots for a reverse camera - the license plate being the one, I'm going to try and follow that bundle! Not may ways to get out there.
