Backup Rear - Reverse Camera

Hi all,

Here is my dilemma and I hope some of you will have inputs for me

Iam looking into getting a double din system.
Choose a Clarion NX700 as my head unit, found a steering wheel integration(hopefully it'll work out) and bought the Metra dash.
Iam either going to try this on my own or convince my self to spend another $200 and have Best buy do it for me.

I was thinking that since the dash will be taken apart and that the head unit will be able to receive video feed, why not adding the reverse back up camera.
Has anyone ever retrofit this ?
I found this camera, therefore I went and actually measure my R56 plate light, it seems to be the same size...taking away the white reflector; I saw inside, the bulb and computered green component.
Im assuming these will have to be removed ?

I think it would look so much better to have the camera place right there, then one that you'll have to drill holes for and would be kinda sticking out.
What do you guys think ?

I don't know how much of a job this will be - I even thought of getting the wireless version for the camera so I would not need to run the cable throughout the car
Thanks

There is a car on here who did a rear camera setup through a rear wiper delete. Or the license plate ring one will do as well. The car is small enough it won't be too much trouble to run the wire from the hatch into the car and up front.

Whatever you do, skip BB car install. This is not a straightforward install and they will probably back away when you hand them the ribbon cable for the relocation of the factory headunit to be hidden in the dash somewhere.

I don't know about that camera. It looks similar to the one I originally got for
our suzuki. It was terrible.
I ended up getting one from here www.cars-electronics.com
The really good CMOS kind. It pokes out near the license plate you can barely
see it and it is TV quality pic day and night.

Ive done mods on the car but taking the whole dash off and making sure the wiring is good looks overwhelaming
