Well, it's not EASTERN Iowa, but we drove to Ames on Tuesday 1 July and saw a pretty blue Mini as we were going around Des Moines. The driver even waved at us!
Close enough! We're equal opportunity wavers and have close ties to our I-35 area brethren.
^^ Lisa met Walts twin the other day. A brand new owner (1 month) of an Astro Black MINI with White hood and stripes too Unfortunately she didn't realize she had a whole box of cards in the car so we'll have to catch him another time.
Just handed out a card last night to a lovely lady at Hy-Vee gas with a Chilli Red Cooper S with a nice Union Jack on the roof Hopefully she decided to join up!
Woot! Received a comment today on the website from a new MINI owner who wants to join up with EIM. How did he find out about us, you ask? He was tagged by MariaChick during a recent sighting! Way to go!
On my way to work today and once I got off of I-80 sitting at the light by the mall and low and behold a MINI Cabrio pulls up beside me, best of all it was dark silver AND a JCW!! nice plate to, ICWORKS.
Saw one last night at Los Aztecas restaurant in Dubuque. They parked beside me while I was in the restaurant. It was exactly like mine except red! Had the 8 spoke white wheels (even had the brake dust). Cooper S with white hood, bonnet stripes and mirrors. I did not have a card with me but they parked on the side I have the EIM decal on. I have not seen it around town before. It is almost as cute in red as it is in purple!
Today at work I talked to a very nice lady driving an '06 Blue MCS. Even though she doesn't live in iowa (from chicago), i think i got her to take a look at NAM. Gave her my work card with this site wrote on the back... all my work cards have that on the back now

Don't give up Brian...there's always going to be a some out there who only got into their MINI for the gas mileage and haven't "got it" yet. Our mission is to convert them. Keep on wavin' and giving the ole .
Speaking of tagging and such, I am devising some new cards to give out. Dual sided ones where you can write your name on the back. If you'd like to get some of them please let me know so maybe we can order a hundred or so and split the cost. Makes them real inexpensive that way.
Saw a yellow R56 on my way from work to pick up a part at the jeep dealer for work. Also Handsome Rob, love the card, but i've got like 500 of my work ones with NAM on the back. in big red and blue letters (ran out of blue ink... oops.)
Three MINIs in less than 10 minutes near IA City yesterday while driving home from my brother's house in West Burlington yesterday, northbound on 218...all 1st Gen MINIs.
1. Passed a LY/B MC with black bonnet stripes just before the Highway 1 exit, going in the same direction (thanks for the wave!)
2. Saw his twin (another LY/B; might have been an MCS) whiz by southbound just a minute or two later
3. Where I-380 crosses the Coralville Reservoir, spied a southbound IB/W MCS
The Iowa City area must be positively ripe with MINIs...
^^ i've been thinking of hold another IC MINI get together. In the process of designing a flier to post up in a few locations see if it draws anyone in.
