I'm ready for it!! Work has been draining me and I'm looking forward to you coming down here. We are going to battle R53 vs R56. David got his 90 325is E30 today, maybe your Dad can drive it to Bimmerfest for him.
Sorry to hear about your springs. I pray they come tomorrow and they get installed.
Are you ready?

I sometimes wish I had an R56 but as of now I have 9k into my motor. I plan on going turob later this year (350hp) that will need some air/fuel adjustments.

DAAAAMN, going from 234 hp to 350, WOW that car must be a handful to drive right now, I can't imagine another 125 hp! I remember watching the Top Gear episode where they got ahold of that one tuner MCS R53 and it was putting down 275 and it was all over the place, so yours should be that and "then some"

As far as what you said about the mod, I couldn't agree with you more. Now we just need someone to break into the codes and unlock the hp in the ECU and REALLY take advantage of the mods some of us have made already, i.e. exhaust and this new intake mod. I bet with a good exhaust, this open element K&N filter and getting into the ECU, 210 hp on the dyno shouldn't be too hard, what do you guys think

I agree. I think an ECU in combination with a boost controller will work great! Someone needs to hurry up and figure how to make them all work together, I know some of you are working on it, but we are anxious.

Personally I am waiting for ALTA's 3" downpipe too. I was debating getting the Miltec but in this situation I think bigger is going to be better.

I saw that show and I think is was BBR Mini and it had 275hp at the crank not the wheels, so that is pretty much where mine is now.
I agree with you also, the first company to break the ECU will get all the money.

I disagree about the "bigger is going to better" but only to a point. If you plan on upgrading the turbo/intercooler and are going to go way up on the boost, than yes, go for the bigger exhaust system for sure, but if your staying with the stock turbo and are looking to "enhance" the car with dyno tune, IMO the 2.5" exhaust would work fine. I know the cat in the downpipe is restrictive, but I didn't want to mess with that because I felt the 2.6" downpipe was fine, it was the 2.4" and 2.2" exhaust after that that bothered me so I addressed it and am VERY happy with what I have now, especially for $500.00 and its all T304 SS, Magnaflow polished SS muffler and Pypes tip. Once someone figures out the ECU my tune will be more on the 'safe" side, but should still make a HUGE difference on my car with its mods and that's going to be fine with me

I have already done a 3" cat back. It may be over kill but I do plan on doing more mods like the ones you suggested. I think this car is going to be a lot of fun either way

The car being alot of fun is an understatement Today I took the car for a little ride and didn't turn on the radio, just so I could hear the intake and I must say it shouldn't be "that" annoying to anyone really. I do notice that the "psshhhht" is louder going 2nd to 3rd though, no biggie, just an observation. I notice that when I'm going through my sub it makes the "psshhht" sound even when you get off the gas a little, LOL! I did jump on it a little today for this lady that I took the car by and she said "let me hear it", so I did and WOW!, does thing take off I'm at about 1100 miles, so its just about broken in.

We were playing around today with the lid to an R53 airbox. I think I can modify it with a hole saw for the filter to sit inside of it. Cut a hole in the bottom an fix the air spout from the front headlight area to the bottom and trim the top in the same rubber seal as the hood has....see where I am going with this...could look nearly OEM!

It sounds great. Not real loud, but a noticeable woosh from the turbo. Not sure if it's making any more power, I know the audio message to the brain can fool you. It's fun and cheap, will be switching back to the stock box to run auto-x. $24 at Pep Boys.

Mine isn't the K&N, it's a cheap off brand. Spectre.
Found you a link in Summit racing:

oo thanks. I need some help removing the hoodscoop, i got the basic 2 visable screws undone, and the star screw under the plug undone, but now i dk how to "pop" it out, do i pull on the outside of the hood and push from the outside-->in, , do i push on top/bottom? How do i pop it out to get to the other screws. Exact detail of where your hands were and where you were pushing would be great.

And when installing the KN filter, how do you do that, I unscrewed the 4 screws alongside the current filter, the one to the right of the tube, and then undid the latches on the back, but where do you go from there? Thanks again

Mike just left California and will be on the road for 7 hours. This is a very easy mod and everything comes off with simple hand tools. Don't over complicate it, I know sometimes I do this. Take everything off from the MAF forward and then put the new K&N on with a clamp. Make sure you leave the hose underneath the K&N to feed it air from the front of the car.
Good luck
M
