Drivetrain Madnees JCW intake fitment???
Madnees JCW intake fitment???
I tried to install the Madness JCW intake this morning - typical replacement of the stock filter is very easy.
However, what holds the smaller diamter end in place? Once the larger end is installed, it fall off with the sligthtest movement. There are not other components that fit the small end...

Agreed, the large clamp should not be over tightened...or the filter will just pop off. However, there is no way to secure the other end...the piece that fastens the JCW filter at the non intake end does not fit the Madness filter.
One extra small clamp and a screw came with the filter...for what, I don't know as these parts fit nothing.
And, no instructions. The Mini world, unlike others I've experienced, have a rather large number of venders who think we do not need or like instructions.

meb, here are the instructions:

Although there is nothing in it about the extra screw, or the extra clamp.

I think the screw is intended to plug the vacuum line (not needed if you are still using the "flap". Do not overtighten the clamp. I also placed some self adhesive rubber pads on the filter so the original bracket makes contact.

Thanks for the instructions! But no CD...
I have to devise an elegant way to attach the stock JCW thingy at the non-intake end to the Madness filter...it still moves around too much for my taste. I don't want it detaching during a track event...or anywhere else.
...call Madness, yes! But I was trying to cure the problem over the weekend - hey loook!!! It's Monday

I tried, but keep getting the answering machine. I'll figure this out.
I may just cut the tab off the JCW filter and epoxy it the the Madness intake so that the JCW clip works...or just fasten a screw thru the JCW clip into the non-intake end of the filter...or cut a triangular shpaed hole in the Madness filter so the JCW clip fits into it. Three options! Where's my Dremel tool???

Just to be clear, the filter and poly engine dampener inserts I recieved are top notch! This is not a complaint about the product. I am at times a worry weenie; I would prefer to mechanically fasten the non-intake end.
