The Meat of the Matter/Planning for Success
I’ve enjoyed looking at the pictures of open engines & shiny pistons, reading about plans to swap pistons, and of course Don’s interjections about his superior heads
. But I feel a little empty because there is no discussions about the meaty stuff, the “not-so-minutia” that is so critical to success; compression ratio (what method was used to calculate?), squish band area, and piston shape & relationships. I’m no expert in this area and that’s why I would like some banter on these topics. I miss “the old one” forums because those topics were so juicy. Here is some background on what I’m referring to http://www.rbracing-rsr.com/squishcalc1.html , and look at the last three paragraphs here http://www.hpt-sport.com/blowopen.htm . Manufacturing tolerances can vary widely so sometimes these parts don’t fit together neatly like Lincoln Logs.
Some of this information may be proprietary but enough could be revealed by the knowledgeable to help guide the rest of us dreamers.

ok, the above post was made by K-huevo, and i whole heartidly agreed with him, but i think i may have blown my agreement was out of proportion. He asked a serious question, and got no replies (save mine) and i think it was my post that made the vendors in general, but anyone else as well from posting. I appologize for this, i should not have jumped to conclusions like i did. Keith, i am sorry, please accept my appologies. Vendors out there, i appologize to you as well. I really would like to know as much info about the heads as possible. As it stands, i ahve been more apt to do my head work myself then buy a head because no one would say what kind of stuff they have done. Tell us what you want, i promise i will be on my best behaviour, and im sure everyone else will be as well.
Again, i appologize, and i hope this topic takes off so we can all learn more about what you guys have done so we can choose the best head for our needs....
