Drivetrain Installing Fireballed Head and Schrick cam this month.
I guess the idea isn't totally crazy if at least two other people have considered it.
If it got well-publicized and the governance got set up so that people felt more like they were testing rather than racing, you might get broader participation (while those who want to race could certainly bust their humps, no extra charge) AND if the event had other stuff to do besides run and watch others running, (good eats? performance vendor exhibition wares?) then it might make for a fun time.
Long Beach MINI did annual poker rallies for a few years until this year I guess they stopped maybe because last year it got too big for them to handle, I guess. It did get kinda messed up last year.
The right venue might be difficult to find? I don't know where one would do such a thing.
Other things to do might be make it "all hatch-back" or something else to include more prospective owners if the concern was whether attendance would be sufficient to support it. Or maybe "all-BMW"? Whatever. Invite enough to make SURE the first time. Make it "first-come-first-served" and do it again if it goes well. Or maybe test the water somehow with the clubs and sponsors? Vendors should have lists of their customers. If they cooperated, and did a joint mailer to publicize? Use a publication like MC2? How many participants would be needed to make it work?
HELP!! Somebody with some expertise in -- whatever this is!

The big advantage is you can get 15-20 runs in on a private test day and the track is spot on.
Everybody who's intrested should pay $100 up front then you know its going to happen, you probably need 30-40 cars.

I'm still not sure whether I'm going or not. Sounds like fun though. Good cause too.
I'm not sure what "untuned" means. My car already had the FBT software about 3 weeks ago so maybe it was good enough for the Head and Cam no to be adjusted. Maybe there is more HP to be made, but I do need the car to be reliable.
So far there is no Ping or Knocking. I know they put 380 injectors and colder plugs. I have a feeling Zero timming was pulled since the car is running on the same software download I got a few weeks ago.

, where the injectors and plugs installed before the first run, after the first run or after the last run? In other words was it a head/cam and injectors for the 208hp? What was the before and after TQ?Can you please post the dyno sheet with the before run and after run on one sheet with A/F? I am interested to see the TQ curves before and after and where you were making peak numbers. I'm not asking to discredit anything, I would love to compare it with my data.
What does untuned mean? Is there more tuning that has to be done? While on that note how does FBT software compare to MTH? Thanks! -- Johan
I'm a little confused, like normal

I forgot what the tq was and I don't have it on a PDF or anything. I think I gained like 25wtq.
I have heard many horror stories from real in person owners on MTH. Some had no problems but also had no HP gains. The Fireballed software was a huge improvement on my car and the 10 other cars that got it the same day I did.
Well, I think I'm over the whole Head and cam thing, there seems to much hair spilting over the pre and post dyno and he said she said crap. Over all I'm very happy with my results and the butt dyno is huge, I guess thats all that matters to me. I really want a twincharge set up, I should have done it the first time around. Time so save my pennies.

The pre dyno was done at 167whp, the post dyno was 208whp with Head, cam, and added 380 injectors and colder plugs.

Now at 208whp after $10k and you already want more!
And you've only owned your car 9 weeks!
Mario, do you have a qtr mile trap speed recorded yet? MPH tells all and is not dependent on traction or launch.
BTW valve float is actually very violent and the resonance heats the springs up something fierce, usually resulting in the springs losing their temper for a lower rpm until floating the next time, each time. You would NOT just notice a slight torque drop off at one rpm (say 6000) while sailing up to redline because by definition the valves are off their seats (usually the intakes because they're heavier) so you cannot rev higher. That and the power loss would occur at a lower rpm each time.

TURBO, TURBO, TURBO is what I want next.
