I take it the Sat afternoon at AMS went well with the fine tuning then? Looking forward to seeing the end result soon.

Oh and why was that cop giving me the evil eye and shaking his finger at me when I left Sat in blu? LOL

With the costs staying under the 4k range, I will definitely be interested in seeing the final dyno results in a few weeks. Might make the $/hp a little more attractive over where I am now than I originally thought....

I like Waylan but.............he does not have my permission if that is what you are asking..... sorry about all the cops...... someone was having fun in the area..... I think it was a Cobalt.....

The tune went very well..... custom tunes are not doen in a hour or two..... there is a lot to it..... that is why Motek setups and tunes can cost $20K on some race cars (dmh told me this)... my car is running strong.....

I liked your car... very nice

A guys gotta ask, right? Waylon mentioned you reminded everyone a few times that your car was not to be entered this weekend. LOL A staged checkered flag shot might have been cool to post up for you to see though.....

Very interested in the final result though seriously, maybe a xmas present to me from me? LOL

Let me know when you get back in town and lets cross paths for a look see...

And every Mini in Alpharetta is probably under the evil eye for a few weeks now! LOL

Hello,
Glad to see this is moving forward but I too am a little disappointed about the price. I am not saying that this kit is not worth it (heck we don't even know exactly what the final kit consists of yet) and I know there is a price to pay for R&D, but...I was hoping for a kit that everyone could afford and not pay more $ just because it produces more HP and TQ than other more expensive kits. Please don't take this the wrong way; I am not trying to bust anyone's @@. I was just hoping for under $3K. Still interested but it will be a while for me.

the comment comparing the two Lotus cars is interesting. Same sort of thing could be said comparing the Mini and Mini-S, but there you get some 40hp by adding the M45 and, what, $5,000

I don't think the comparison applies to M45 to M62 changes.

Hi, jlm

your up early.... (I am off to the health club in a minute)

I don't think we know yet.... if my cars delta was say 200whp (clogged cat) with the 45 and is 250 with the 62 that would be 70whp gain from the 62.....(subtract the 45)

the dyno is being done on Thursday...... pully sizes are being experimented with...... cats/headers replaced (hopefully) as I have already said..... the torque improvement is worth the implementation (IMO) ......and even though we know there is more power available from where the car is at, I would be happy with its current numbers......it really is fun.....

Is there any data on the heat yet.
I know one of the issues with the M45 is that it makes more heat than is wanted and the M62 is better, but how much?
Could the improvement with the M62 allow using the stock intercooler?
Thanks - Jeff

The reason that DDM/M7 is looking for "early adopters" is to get info from different configurations..... it does not seem that heat is an issue in carge temps or under bonnet......

??

The Lotus comparison was between a NA car and a supercharged M62 car; like comparing the Mini to the Mini-s, but with an M45. and they squeezed out 50hp, NA vs blown/M62

In the context of this thread, we want to compare the difference between an M45 and M62 on the same car. Do you think the NA/M62 delta would be more or less than the M45/M62 delta?

There was/is some confusion around this..... with the M45 and all of my mods witha clogged cat we measured 200whp..... 62-so far unmeasured...... I don't have an NA car but you can use a Coopers numbers...... It is not known yet what the different configs will net hence the "beta" testers...... someone said earlier about taking of the 45 and adding the 62 and I was confused about the point they were trying to make.... I want to leave it at that.... WE simply don't know yet and soon we will know a lot and so will you and everyone else

I'm sure it's been said already but I would like to see this kit strapped onto a bone stock MCS to see what ~$3000 to 3500 would really get you.

I just hope that all this testing and beta early adoption doesn't mean that we can't buy one in the next 2 weeks or so. I'm anxious to see numbers before I spring on this, but if it's not ready soon I may have to go another route for what i'm planning. I'm getting my car in soon and there is NO way I can wait a month or two, as my car is going up north for business soon after it comes in. So I need to get the parts, get the car, and get it installed in under a week once I get my car in!

M7 should answer this, but don't get in too much of a hurry - this stuff takes time, and a 2 week window at this stage might be too aggressive in terms of timing. But what do I know, I'm not a company spokesperson - I hope this works out the way you want.

Thank you Joe.....

Shipping parts is not a problem, having you the buyer figuring out
what to do when there's issues with the software or the hardware is.

But DDM and M7 want's the part to be rock solid and safe, allowing you the owner to enjoy the car to the fullest IE. no down time because the car is over heating, bolts falling of or other un-scheduled maintenance issues....

We will have at least 5 cars with the M62 systems testing for the next 2-4 weeks, and if everything goes like stink.. expect the products to
ship shortly there after.

Ya, the problem isn't getting the parts, it's getting the work done. The closest performance shop I know of to where this car is going is over an 8 hour drive. I can't drive 8 hours to have parts installed on the car, it needs to get done before it's shipped, and I don't have the flexibility to wait, i've been following this thread since it was started, so the interest is there, it's just about feasiblity. I hope this kit is released in time, and I certainly don't want it rushed, that would be even more frustrating!

The one good thing is that this sounds like a fairly simple install and that any moderately skilled shade-tree mechanic should be able to do it.

I'm almost looking forward to the end of my warranty!

Ship the car (or drop it off) to M7, let them install and then have them ship the car up north.
