Drivetrain M62 SC on the MINI is reality

I spoke with Jack for a while at the Monterey Historics last month about the new UNIChip. There are many things that it will be able to do, and as Bob says, worthy of a separate thread.
I will say here though that it has a video out, like to a PDA for data display and will even let one (the end user) make fine adjustments to the tune. It has been in beta testing for months. It will not be cheap, and considerably more expensive than our first UNIChip...
Thanks for the M62 update Bob! Hope the header situation gets resolved soon also...

we are going to try and dyno on Saturday............ Josh will be in town all weekend at the NOPI show at road Atlanta......go by and say hello if you are in town.....
Kudos to Josh and Jack at Unichip..... they are stepping up in a big way and bringing the newest version of Unichip for the M62 car. they have made me an offer I can't refuse....more details on that later....(look what time it is, 4:40 AM)
Kudos to Peter at M7 for all the support.....and to Dave at DDM for initiating and following through with this not so small project...... we are very close now folks

Josh said this won't matter much on a tune but I need more clarification.... all I really know is that they are happy about tunning the 62 and they want their newest technology on the "62" car......I suggest you call or contact Unichip Josh/Jack/Joe (three Js ?)
and ask..... they are not an official sponsor so I am not sure about the rules of NAM for an official announcement......

Tonight is the night
Josh (Unichip) is flying in..... Dave (DDM) is bringing the "SpiderX" in from Greenville...... Waylen (Waymotorworx) is coming from Indy..... Peter (M7) sitting on his butt in LA with a good bottle of Pinot......pour a glass for me (
) and we will start to tune hopefully by 9:00PM......
FYI Dave opened the box with the Meghan header and is very impressed with the construction.
Dave has a lot of parts that will compliment the 62 coming...... when they started with 62s on the Miata they were getting about 200whp..... with a variety of complimentary parts some guys are wringing out 300whp...... It is nice that Dave has been there before and has a good idea of the capabilities and what can happen..... it is also nice that he has taken the conservative/safe approach to max whp.... makes me feel better about long term reliability etc.....
hopefully I will have my car all next week to have fun with....
I will post probably late tonight
Dave and I will be at the Atlanta Minis event tomorrow and Dave will be at the race in SC with the car over the weekend of the 22nd.... all to answer questions and of course show off his "handywork"

Bob, Dave I'll be thinking about you while have a glass.
I'll guess it's time to reveal the News that MTH and M7 has joined in the M62 venture to make a fantastic software package. We will be able to offer custom RPM files IE. So if you have the equipment to take 8000rpm (*****)...
let us know and your wish is our command.More will come shortly, but we are all incredibly excited about the whole M62 project.

The DDM/MTH/M7 combo will be easy to embrace.....Peter and Don have been working hard behind the scenes to bring a great package to market. the questions that Don (MTH) has asked me over the phone reveal that he is taking this project VERY seriously...... look for some nice work from MTH and Don.
To be fair..... Unichip will have info for maps to tune the 62 for those of you who allready own Unichips.....like me......Josh and Jack at Unichip are going way above and beyond to work with the kit. Josh is tuning the car tonight and my car will run Unichip..... The M7 demo will be MTH.....
Dave at DDM wants to remain "tune agnostic" to allow for the end user to make his decision.
i like the way this sounds. real collaboration and harmony between vendors. good stuff
kudos to DDM, Don@Precision-MINI/MTH, and M7. and of course Bob (SpiderX) without you this obviously would not be happening.
Tomorrow

I may drop by the mod party when you're gonna be there.
I only live 10-15 minutes away.
And don't come down and look at the presents under the tree until it's daylight!!!
