On a previous car that had an M45 on it, at idle rpm there was some gear lash that was audible. It did sound like a little disheartening but it is normal. I'm wondering if the MCS's M45 is the same way.. I do hear some mild clicking/rattling on my car at idle.. but it didn't accour to me until now that it could be the blower.

Maybe it's just the nature of the beast.

I will be tearing it down soon, so I will check it out.

OK we are getting close now

Dave is dropping off the car to me tomorrow......yes..... the tune will be done next weekend by Unichip's own Josh Murray (not Levy).. Josh has been aware of the project and will be in atlanta next weekend for NOPI and is going to do the tune...... I am very excited..... I will have the car for a few weeks and while I am on vacation in Europe, Dave will have the car for more testing and dynos..... there are other products that will compliment the 62 that Dave is developing and this will be a good time for him to check them out...... This stuff takes time and really it has only been 6 weeks and it is just about done........

Thanks to Josh and Unichip for stepping up

Bob, if you don't mind, ask Josh how many folks he needs in the Bay Area to merit a trip out this way. Look forward to you getting your car!!!

Bob, I remember how pleased you were with Josh's last trip here, when he tweaked your car with his laptop while you guys drove around.

I just KNOW you're about to bust.

We're all enjoying this whole thing vicariously.

Thanks so much for making this happen and for keeping us apprised of the developments as they occur.

I meant to ask you. When he did your tune, did Josh have the ability to measure AFR, and/or EGT?

he did not monitor egt but Dave may put a bung in to do so.... Josh likes the egt on the mini to be 1350 but he will tune A/F and T and get the results...... I am very glad he is coming and willing.....

Thanks for the kind remarrks

There has been a delay..... the Milltek header has destructed itself not related to the 62... the problem is that they have been promising a new one for over a month.... Stratmosphere has been great but Milltek has been slow...... the wideband is giving us some info we can't be sure of so were a little stuck.... we may order an OBX just to get this thing moving along....this will be third Milltek header...... Stratmosphere is great but man to say I am frustrated with Milltek is .... well..... accurate... this will put us off at least another week

They are being nice about the replacement so I don't want to trash them but basically the flex joint gave up and poluted the cat......the new header is supposed to be improved.... there is an issue with the collector......it is really a PITA... I got some bad advice when I bought it about 2 years ago...

Then I'm definitely going to keep an eye out for your feedback on the new & improved header.

I'm going to amend my comment..... as the Milltek was the only game at that time.....the Mini mod market is still in a adolescent state and at that time infancy..... people who were guiding me were well meaning.

Update....

Josh Murray (Unichip) flies into Atlanta Friday night...... Dave and I are going to pick him up in the Mini around 8:00PM. Since that is only 5:00 to him, coming in from the west coast.... we are going to tune Friday night....

we are going to try and dyno on Saturday............ Josh will be in town all weekend at the NOPI show at road Atlanta......go by and say hello if you are in town.....

Kudos to Josh and Jack at Unichip..... they are stepping up in a big way and bringing the newest version of Unichip for the M62 car. they have made me an offer I can't refuse....more details on that later....(look what time it is, 4:40 AM)

Kudos to Peter at M7 for all the support.....and to Dave at DDM for initiating and following through with this not so small project...... we are very close now folks

Bob, I'll bet you can barely contain your excitement. The rest of us are cheering you on.

Thanks,

I am ready to have my car back for a while...... while I am in Italy the 24th thru the 3rd (sept-oct) Dave (DDM) will have the car for tweaking..... hopefully experimenting with different pulley sizes etc.....

I spoke with Peter yesterday and he is getting excited about having a kit installed on his Cosworth demo car...... folks out west will be able to experience this "kit" first hand.

More on this new version?
Like what does it do better and of course what will those of us with the old unit be expected to pay if the new one is worthwhile?

I probably need to start a new thread for this.....as this will probably be a big discussion..... one thing is that the new one can store 5 maps rather than 2...., the resolution on the maps is finer..... Josh said this won't matter much on a tune but I need more clarification.... all I really know is that they are happy about tunning the 62 and they want their newest technology on the "62" car......I suggest you call or contact Unichip Josh/Jack/Joe (three Js ?)
and ask..... they are not an official sponsor so I am not sure about the rules of NAM for an official announcement......

Bob
