I'm seriously interested in the Dinan S1 kit so I called Dinan for more info. Was told that if you live far enough away from the a Dinan dealer they will sell the kit to you direct - except for the software upgrade. The ECU can be sent back to Dinan or the dealer can do it. Also was told that the warranty stays in effect if the you install the parts yourself. The parts are no-brainers so you can save quite a bit to DIY. Since I'll have to go to the dealer for the s/w flash I'll pick up the parts their. Dinan was even going to ensure that the parts were in stock at my dealer so there'd be no nasty surprises when I made my 60 mile trip one way.

THAT is pretty darn good customer service. A lot of people have been bashing Dinan but considering they have enough faith in their product to cover the BMW/MINI warranty, I think it's a pretty smart way to go.

Make sure this is all sqaured away with your closest Dinan dealer as they'll likely be covering your warranty should anything go wrong. Since MINI USA has no affiliation with Dinan, the warranty you will have on these new upgrades is through Dinan and will only be servicable via a Dinan dealer. While it's not a huge deal considering how many MINI dealers are also Dinan dealers, it's something to keep in mind.

Do not try cleaning them, its a paper filter and should be changed every year or depending on the way it looks.

OK, thanks The blue color threw me there for a bit

Any idea what the price is on replacement filters?

Finally, does Dinan ship parts themselves? (Prolly a question for them but it never hurts to ask) As I mentioned before, I live in Germany, so once I get my MCS I'll have to find someone that'll ship to APO addresses

This has been a great thread abd thanks for all your help 1FSTMINI

$50 is still cheaper than the $90 I saw for replacement JCW filters
As far as shipping goes, as long as they're willing to ship USPS to an APO (Army Post Office) address I'm good to go

Thx again

How come with the Dinan stuff you chose an Alta pully instead of theirs? One of the reasons this is such an attractive way to go (all Dinan) is the total upgrade for the car is from one source - tested, proven and warrented.

If you used a local affiliate for Dinan can you recommend who?

I went with the alta pulley based on the many recommendations that was I given for it.
I used Foreign Affairs in Deerfield Beach...(be sure and ask for Camille) tell her I sent you!!! She is knowledgable, and gives great customer service. 954-746-0488

Bump this back up...

Anyone have some drive time in the full Dinan package yet? Suspension & Engine upgrade......? Would really like some comparisions to similar upgrades. I like the 'under one roof' approach to Mini Tuning.

Where did everybody go?

I was wondering if this is a good idea. Dinan stage 1, (intake, exhaust, stage 3 software) then add a 15% pulley. Will the pully and software work together or should I go a different route?

Ive been so out of it the past few weeks and after finding out my friend killed himself last week really did it for me.

If you use someone elses pulley i recommend you using Dinan's stage 5 software which is used for there own pulley which is the same size. i cant be sure on how well it will work as there pulley kit uses a tank and fuel rail regulator to compensate for added fuel.

I would go with a different software that is calebrated around the mods you have. Look at GIAC, MTH or Evotech. Or go all out Dinan

I cant really tell you that it will work but i dont see why not.

Mark (mholtsberg) who works for a MINI dealer in FL did the same thing and says it works great. Def need the stage 5 flash though.

Eighth post down. https://www.northamericanmotoring.co...t=56457&page=4

Im pretty sure he went with the stage 5 after I talked to him.

my upgrades

I am LOVING the Dinan upgrades...The 15% alta pulley was recommended by the installer over the full Dinan Pulley pkg..I saved a few $$..The softwear, intake and pulley have run FLAWLESSLY for over 4000 miles..I had planned on the Dinan exhaust, but for some reason, Foreign Affairs (the installer) took forever to get it in....while waiting, I did a one ball with my stock exhaust...Not only have I saved about $600.00, but love the sound I do not know if I gained as much power as the Dinan system is supposed to give, but ....
I will use my savings for a sway bar & maybe brakes....

I was told that stage 3 was what they recommended as I was not doing the throttle body mod and the fuel pressure regulator....I have yet to have and indications of fuel starvation...It is running flawlessly. Do I really need stage 5?

ps: It is really bad to lose a friend, true friends are rare

hey....if it aint broke, dont fix it.

You work at Mini....try flashing it with the JCW software....you can always put the Dinan one back in for free. as the JCW will be for you.
