It's not very functional. If you want something to protect the strut towers from ballooning or to add rigidity, look at the M7 strut tower brace. I have one, and I love it!

mbcoops.....Aftermarket 17's only they say. Dinan has a template that simulates a caliper. You take the cut-out and place it on the wheels center most parts and you will see if it hit the inside pattern to know if the kit will work or not.

mholtsberg.....Im gonna go with visual more than a physical suspension piece. But it still looks killer and I always get compliments when i pop the hood.

I really appreciate all the input..I am a motoring advisor @ LauderdaleMINI, and I am still learning new things from the MINI community..
I guess a little bling under the bonnet is a good thing.

So, does this mean I may be able to bring my car with :cough: some mods in for service and find a like-minded individual who will treat me fairly? I currently take it to Braman in WPB, and they're....ok....

I cannot speak for other dealers or their service advisors, but ours tries very hard to be FAIR..I had my 1st S modded long before I ever started selling MINIs and never had an issue with my mods or warranty service..If a modded part fails it has to be determined what causes the failure......

We also are opened minded about aftermarket parts when they come in for problems being we do so many we also know what to look for when an issue comes about.

They sublet the work out to an independant company who produces the products for them. They dont have any pix of the camber plates. They are a fixed mount with no adjustments

After you hammer out the bugs with the '05 software, I will look (intently) into your S1 system. Please keep us posted!!!

If you have the stadge 3 software and then decide on adding a pulley and go to the stage 5 software do you have to pay the full $550 of the stadge 5 or can you just get your stage 3 software updated. Maybe just pay the differance or something like that.

Correct.....You pay the difference in price plus labor.

Question: a lot of us already have and intake and exhaust system (in my case, an RDR/Helix intake and a Miltek exhaust).

What will Dinan stage three software do for us?

(I autocross the car and don't want to do the pulley thing because of classing reasons.)

Thanks for any advice. Cheers.

I copied this off the site because im to lazy right now to type it out.

Improved throttle response, a 300 rpm rev-limit increase and MORE POWER!

Dinan's Performance Engine Software bumps peak output to 175 hp @ 7000 rpm and 158 lb/ft torque from engine management tuning alone. In addition to the increased power, the software provides a 7300 rpm rev-limit, allowing you to carry more road speed in each gear as well as optimize shift points. Revised EML tuning provides more immediate throttle response and improved high performance drivability as well. Additional stages of engine software are available for optimum performance from specific combinations of Dinan Performance Products for the MINI Cooper S.

Thanks, I've read the Dinan site language.

I just wondered if you, or anyone at NAM, has direct experience with this specific requirement: software upgrade for cars with intake and exhaust only.

Anyone? TIA.

I will have to say no for me........I havent had anyone come in for just a flash with other upgrades on there car other than Dinan.

Ive put there Intake on my car without the flash and felt a difference but never had the chance to do the software being there still having issues in that department.

Quick question (with 2 parts) on the Dinan Intake...

Are the filters designed to be cleaned (like Alta or K&N) or are the replaced? If they are replaced.. how often & how much?

TIA

I am simply asking if any of Dinan's customers have dynoed their cars before and after doing the mods, to see what the gains are.

Andy - try their website, www.dinanbmw.com, click on MINI products, and then read the page. There are dyno results for each stage according to them, but the question remains: have any customers done this?

Thats another thing. I dont go by there numbers being there on the west coast with higher elevations and the gas is lower in octane compared to ours on the east coast. I say this because on paper the JCW kit has more power but yet i destroyed one with our Dinan car this past summer.

They do show a HP increase with the software but not on each stage level.

I could be wrong be I think that's the stage 1 software. He was talking about the stage 3 software, it's the one your suppose to use with just intake and exhaust. I think the question he was asking was does the stage 3 software work well with an aftermarket intake and exhaust or is it only meant to work with the dinan intake and exhaust?
