Drivetrain Dinan upgrades
Please re-read what i wrote.
"Additional stages of engine software are available for optimum performance from specific combinations of Dinan Performance Products for the MINI Cooper S."
I understand stage 3 is what he's looking for but i cant say if Dinan software will due the same as it would with his setup.

My guess is that the software will work the same with a RDR/Helix/Miltek setup as with the Dinan hardware.
But I still would love to get a feeling for what the software reflash accomplishes, aside from raising the rev limit.
Cheers.
I have a stock 03 with the stage 3 software and cold air intake. I do not have the exhaust. Besides the rev limits being changed, the engine runs smoother, you can hear the supercharger whine without the girgle and it revs higher in each gear. When I get on it, I would do 60mph in second then shift. After the intake and software, I can do 70mph at the same rpm. It allows me to carry more speed through the gears. My mileage increased too. For a single mod it's pretty cool. More mods to come. Some Dinan...some Webb Motorsports.

More power would enable you to gain rpm (engine speed) more quickly. But only a gearing change would cause the car to travel a different road speed at the same rpm, right? Maybe you're taking advantage of the higher redline, enabling a higher speed before the shift. That would make sense.

Getting Stage 5 done Monday.
I already have exhaust, intake, stage 3 software and front strut brace. I am getting pulley and throttle body installed Monday, can't wait till I bring her back down I-65 from Nashville after the install.
I will give you my idea on its worth,
I have driven JCW as well, and feel for the money, Dinan is by far the way to go if you not a track guy but a street guy that enjoys the biggest bang for the buck.

jst4fun, from the pics in your gallery it looks as though you have an '05 car. What is your build date? Are you saying that the '05 software has now been finished and released?
1FSTMINI, can you comment on the current status of stage 5 software development and/or availability?
I have an '05 MCS built in March or April (not sure offhand). I have been waiting semi-patiently for months and months for the stage 5 software to be released for my car. Once it is out, I am planning to install a full package of Dinan gear all at once. The suspense is almost as bad as waiting for the car to arrive in the first place.

There still in development on the 05' software. Dont have an exact production date but its early 05' and its the latest program number for that quarter. I will find out more for you guys come monday and ill get back to you. I myself have a 6/05 pro date which isnt working. i wont really comment on the productivity of the new software as its an issue with me also.
For warranty reasons, I have to say Dinan is the best way to go and 1/2 the price of the JCW kit. Its def worth waiting for if you have a new car and your worried about the warranty. Its an amazing system and very fun to drive.
I do know where your coming from with waiting so long but I dont know anymore than its being worked on everyday for the past 6 months straight.

Built in late Sept. 05
Picked it up Oct. 29. 04. not 05. Sorry Its been a long long work week.
And yes I brought it home last nite with Everything Dinan except for the new camshaft. Hadn't really had a chance to put it to the test yet, but I plan on driving it tomorrow the 21st.
Edit: Dang I need to get my years right Sorry.

"IF" the software happened to have made it out without me knowing ( which i doubt ) , then im gonna feel real stupid for saying all this and be EXTREMELY pissed off at them.
You can get the build date from the computer reset method.
You put the key in, and turn it to on while holding the ODO button down. There's more stuff to getting into it. Look on OutMotorings how to section to see the full script. Or search here for ECU reset (only it doesn't reset the ECU adaptive values...) One of the function is the car build date.
Also the fuel pressure changes as a function of manifold vacuum. So you'd want to measure it floored, at redline (or just about). To really see what it's doing, you'd have to map is vs RPM and throttle position or boost.

my personal experience with dinan mcs
I am not trying to confuse anyone here, but I am going to try to explain this without breaking the site guidelines....As you can read in my signature, I have a 03' MCS with 15%, new Alta 2%, full ignition upgrade, Magnaflow, and Alta CAI. No aftermarket programming yet or larger injectors. Also I have some 15lb wheels with BFGoodrich KDW2 wrapped around them. My female friend bought an 03' MCS from carmax.com with the Dinan performance package on it; the rest is bone stock. She obviously didnt know much about car stuff, but she did know she had the dinan pulley, fuel system upgrade, airbox, exhaust, and software. I have driven her car a few miles and here were my impressions: The car felt a lot more refined and smoother than mine; the car felt lighter on initial acceleration but felt like it had less top end power. Also there was a lot less supercharger whine and the Dinan exhaust seemed like factory exhuast compared to my Magnaflow. Overall it felt like a stock more powerful car that someone wouldnt necessairly know was modded, where as when someone rides in my car, you definitely know it is far from stock. We "compared" our cars' power while obeying the speed limits and I did have moderately more power than her.
Also, sort of off topic, but I assume most of you on here are familiar with the member BattleCattle with all of his crazy lights
. He lives near me and we met up at the dragon tail last weekend. He has an 05' with the new "better" shorter ratio gearing, 168hp stock compared to 163 in 03', Alta CAI, Custom exhaust, and deleted rear seat... I found him very similar in power/speed to the Dinan.
So my conclusion is, you can do the mods yourself for about 1500 dollars and risk/void your warranty, or for about twice the price get the Dinan and still have full warranty, or for 4x the money, get JCW and have same basic power, full warranty, and bragging rights of having a JCW Mini if that means anything to your ego.

or are you saying, doing that ECU reset will give psi for the after market pump?
cooper99.....You have alot more boost on the Dinan car so there is no comparisen when you tested your theory with your friends car. I have driven all types of different setups at my job and found Dinan's car to have more mid to upper range power than any car ive driven. I went against a JCW car which everyone at the time said was fast and took him by over 2cars. Granted, its all in the driving mostly but the car got up and did what i asked it to do. Im not jumpin on you for what you said, but idk about all that.
Sorry for the confusiion on build date.
its was Sept. 04. And yes I have already been out this morning. Stage 5 was worth the wait. Love the feel of the car, seems to have a smoother/faster acceleration thang with just the intake and exhaust stage 3, but when you hit 4200 rpm, watch out.... its screams.......
Will have to get used to that....
