My car is a Coupe S AT, currently I'm running with DDM Works CAI, Mini Challenge Exhaust (It's very loud!). If I install the JB+, I'd like to install the evolve decat (I removed because a cel code) and FMIC. Is it safe?
Can tool is indicated?
BMW has a special software version for countries where E25 is mandated by law so you should be fine. Your fuel trim scaling will be different than a USA car for example.

Octane

Hey – got a MINI on the 17th. Countryman Cooper S ALL4 (MCCSA4?) 46,000miles, 6spd. Very, very fun. Traded in my Ford FLEX LIMITED (ecoboosted=twinturbo=365hp). The FLEX was the ultimate “Q-ship,” man it hauled *** in a straight line. Lost count of the G8s, STI, and such that I caught “off guard,” not to mention any other joe-schmoe car. The FLEX is a brute. At 4500lbs and seating 7, a MINI it ain’t, lol. Couldn’t stand the horrible “paddle” shifts, besides being a lame attempt at making an autotranny seem manual-like, the reaction time was link a 98year odd nodding off after shooting smack, I think I had time to make a PB&J after I pulled the a paddle and before the shift came thru Also the DSC defeat wasn’t, there isn’t a true ‘off,’ just a silly delay, maybe the DSC-button and the paddles had the same algorithm...
Well, tickled with the MINI, it’s so much more invigorating. And as for the power deficient – the JB+ (w/ CAN) should help that out considerably! The USPS has it scheduled for delivery this AFTERNOON!!
I have almost waded through this entire thread (in the low 60 pages) and couldn’t wait to finish before I posted this link, this appears to be good info on (off-the-shelf) Octane boosters. I was impressed by the technical level, I found this by googling, not a regular read of mine, anyway worth the short time to read, IMO. The attachment is from the article, btw.

With such great reviews, I had to order one!

I received it today, along with a new set of NGK plugs and spark plug socket tool from Burger Tuning.

I gapped the plugs as per Burger's recommendation installed them, and the JB+.

Went out for a drive, I definitely feel a difference already! .

From reading this thread, it will only get better. I left the JB+ at factory setting - running 93 octane here in NY.

Hey everyone,

I've got a 2012 cooper s and been thinking about getting the JB+. I realize that the product is relatively new, but looking for some feedback, if anyone had any issues, post install? I usually put 91 fuel grade (canada) and the car is stock. The only modification I've done is remove the resonator. I don't intend to add any kits to use the JB+ at 100%. Just looking for some feedback from the community. Thanks a ton!!

I'd wager that any and all of your questions would be answered if you take the time to read the posts in this thread.

Get the JB+ but you have to dial it back a bit since you dont fill the car up with 93, you would still love it though. on the JB+ website is tells you on how to dial it back a bit for 91.

The site mentions to dial down 30-40% if using 90 or low. If i do 91, can I do 50%?

there's a lot of info in this thread, but you're not likely to find a post of anyone having issues with the JB+. I've had it since August and we only have 91 octane here in CA - no issues whatsoever. I run it with the dial set the way it came from terry. I also have the CAN tool so I can monitor the timing. the car drives amazingly well. I would double check with terry about gas in Canada.

Get it, there is nothing HP wise that can beat it. Exhaust and and intake are strictly for noise. Next day ship it if you can. I have had it on my GP2 for 6000 hard hard miles, not one hiccup and and my gops of power.

If you buy it and don't like it, sell it and there are plenty of people that will buy it from you

New member of the JB+ crew here! I just got it in the mail yesterday along with a clutch pedal stop. I hope it kicks in today since I did about 35 miles of driving yesterday going to work and back. I didn't get the can tool since I already have a Scangauge which is set to monitor A/F, timing, boost, and water temp.

On a side note....anyone who hasn't spent ten bucks on the clutch pedal stop that BMS offers is missing out! It made a huge difference in how first and second gear engage. I always thought it felt like the pedal was over extending the clutch and making engagement rough in lower gears. This confirmed my theories!

Thanks. Do you also recommend getting the CAN tool as well? If it's not necessary, I was thinking of skipping that. Any thoughts or experience with that?

day 3

The JB+ is *everything* that's been written about it. It is phenomenal!!
No more jones-ing for the power I gave up. This little device is sweeeeeeet.

Ran around with it at the 50% mark and e85/91 (@30/70). Had a buddy watch the timing advance (via the CANtool & gauges) and it was perfect, i.e., it advanced and didn't drop during WOT thru 3rd, 4th, and 5th gears.

So then I dialed it up to 70%, same fuel mix and holy sh*t, it gets even better!! Monitored again and same thing, fine on the advance and no retarding. WHAT A WONDERFUL LITTLE TOOL, this JB+.

If you don't have it - get it, the MINI becomes another animal. A better animal. My grins are now even bigger.

THANKS TERRY and everyone @ Burger Motorsports!

Is there anything to worry about with this. Or is it safe.

Downpipe CEL Code:

Can the JB+ delete the CEL that can be caused by the Akrovick Down Pipe without any counter-indications...?

you'll need the CAN tool for that.

So is there any issue with installing and removing when bringing into service and then reinstall.

Oh ok, so I don't need a tune to deceive the ECU, just need to delete whenever it pops up. And there should be no performance issues???
