Your only option with the Can Tool is Air Fuel Ratio

I've had the JB+ installed and can tool for 4 days ( 2 driving days after install ). It definitely feels stronger. I'm seeing 14-15 psig on the hijacked speedo. Seems a pound or so low compared to the norm.

2013 MCS with 7500 miles
JB+ set at 50%
93 octane and timing is not being pulled.

Sorry if this might have been said earlier in this thread, but can someone tell me what the jb+ does? I know it increases horsepower and torque but how does it do it is my question? Thanks

For the slower mini connected Speedo, yes. For the regular Speedo boost and timing work.

Engine is load based not psi based. So if 15 is all it needs to hit the target, that's all it'll do. Especially in colder weather since the air is denser.

With 93 octane some have gone up a little on the dial, but that is at your own risk.

That is 'the question' isn't it ;-). It tricks the DME into using a different section of the factory boost/AF ratio curve. How exactly is why we give BMS money and not just make our own.

Adjusting the dial

So, I was running at 2 o-clock position, running about 96 Octane. All was good. Running strong. But today I felt a sudden bog when trying to accelerate, scared the **** out of me. I turned it back to the 1 o-clock position. But I was wondering, is there any effect by dialing in increments, I.e. 12.5, or 1.5. Or does the JB+ have to be on the exact dot marking 12/1/2 etc...

The dial is not discrete. So there is technically an infinite amount of settings. Be careful with the warmer temperatures, you might get boost cuts.

That's what it was, I felt boost, no boost then boost again...

Should I be worried. I set it back an all is well. Was the computer pulling timing, or what does it mean when boost is cut?

BTW, Thanks for update...

No point in being worried, you can't do anything about it now.

I've never experienced a boost cut, but recently I one of my intercooler charge pipes came off and the car just fell flat.

I believe when the ECU cuts boost it just opens the wastegate. I wonder if it could have been pulled timing.

Jb+

I have emailed the guys at BMS but I have not recieved a responce in over a month now...maybe you guys can help...I just wanted to know what to monitor ? I was kkeping track of the timing and boost...anything else I should be looking at ?

Also what is considered high boost ? I've seen 21.9psi with no problems, my JB+ set at 80% running 91 octane, CALI. 70 degrees or so outside. I want to turn it up to 100% running 116 octane.

I have a 2013 JCW, with Custom built intercooler, Custom 2.25 unrestricted exhaust, BMC air cleaner, Custom hot pipe.

Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks.

AFR as in, you can only is that function on the CAN TOOL to see if you're running rich or lean.

And boost cut is very apparent. If it creeps past 22 it back it down to .6bar, roughly 9psi.

21.9 psi is already pushing the limit, I'd be cautious going any higher. There have been numerous reports of this issue since the r56 was around.

I have only heard of 105 octane that is lead free. I use 116 octane "Lead" for my two stroke Lead will destroy O2 sensors quick

So you run the JB+ at 80% using 91 octane when BMS states to set it at 50% using 92 octane and you wonder why they don't reply to you? And with a JCW where BMS also states to run it less than 50% with 92.
