So here's my question in particular about timing which I know absolutely nothing about.....
I have a few mods on my car, Alta CAI, hot side tube, and Magnaflow catback, I filled up with 10 gal of 91 and 2ish of E85 last time which will allow me to turn up the JB+ slowly to 100%. (Correct) I keep hearing to keep a eye on timing so I just need to know what exactly to look for?
Thanks in advance guys!
That's only a 16% mixture. I wouldn't turn up the jb+ at all with that mix. Since it's made for 92 and BMS recommends turning it down to 40% for 91, I would just keep it at 50% and watch it from there.I'm running 27ish% with the jb+ at 80%. No drops in timing and car runs great. Knock code hasn't gone off once. But when temperatures get warm I can see me turning it down to 70%.

No bueno, any codes?

Or did the yellow half engine light come on?

Felt like you deployed a massive parachute?

I checked for codes but after turning my car off but the only one that came on was for the cat since I have a Akrapovic dp.

Yes the light blinked and felt like someone hit the brakes for me.

You are running meth and at 100% on the JB dial, right? Was it possibly not spraying meth?

What mix are you using to get 27%ish? I have been doing 3 gal of e85 and the balance 93.

I messaged a member who use to be on here a lot, not so much anymore, lots of respect for him. Knows a lot.

So pretty much no codes will be stored if boost is cut, what you most likely experienced.

He also told me that JCW's can see up to 30psi(which is obviously not advised) so a GP/JCW won't cut when it hiccups over 22 unlike is "S" folks.

Possibly try 1 hash mark back from max. That might give you the head room to over boost without a cut.

But Terry advised 18psi all day.

Yes I'm running meth but I topped it off before leaving.

I'll data log a bit more and need to see if maybe the elevation is to blame. If it still does it then I'll turn it down.

I read somewhere that someone was able to defeat the boost lit cut but haven't seen what that solution was.

Yea, it's archived somewhere, it was back like in 09'. I'll look into that myself as well.

But that 22psi limit is there for a reason. Finding ways around it may not end with a smile on your face =(

True. I'll data log it and play it safe incase it reaches too high of a boost. It'll be interesting to see what happens when it gets warmer.

I'll be that guy

A version for the N14 would add a lot more potential buyers! I actually like items like this that make small tweaks rather than reflash the factory software. It somewhat retains the factory safeguards instead of removing them entirely.

With my luck, if I bought a tune, I would get the copy where they fat fingered a number and missed the decimal. First run out, I would light up the 'get the shovel light' ( to scoop up my pistons and rods from off the road).

oh you aren't the first :-). The N18 'exploit' doesn't work on the N14. Never seen Terry mention they're working on a N14 JB+ but you never know. You could search for a used accessport, not as easy to find but at least you'd have multiple maps to choose from presumably since it's been out for a while.

Hmmm. I would expect the airflow and/or temp tweaks they are doing would also affect the N14. I wonder if the integration of others sensors negates it?

We could design a N14 piggyback. But it would need to be setup differently as the DME works differently. But for now our MINI focus is on the N18.

I'm tempted to try a few things on my own. I used a rheostat in the past to adjust a barometric pressure (on a totally different platform) to adjust AFR. I've also made boost controllers from scratch for other systems. I'm still fairly new to my MINI though.

Hey guys,

I'm just about to install the JB+ on my '13 JCW Hatch, but just wanted to confirm that the sensor I found is the right one. Is it on the left (passenger) side sitting right on the top of a pipe that leads from the intake?

Should be closer to the drivers side. See photo.

Found, got it on. Thanks for the pic, it really helped.

Bugger to get off though. But once I used a jewellers screwdriver to lift from the back side of the clip it popped right off.

Gunna go try to start it now. Fingers crossed.

if you didn't let the car go to "sleep" before you plugged the JB+ in, you can expect a CEL...just wanted to throw that out there.

Installed the JB+ about a week ago on my 13 JCW. The car has DOS intake and 2nd CAT delete. Been running Torco with 91 and getting about 98 octane. So far i have turned the pot up to 80% and the car pulls like a beast. Timing looks good. At full boost is about 6 to 7 degrees and increases to 9 degrees by redline. Planning on getting a bigger intercooler and running 100% on the JB+ in the future. As soon as I install the intercooler I am going to get a few dyno pulls in so we can have a good comparason of the JCW vs the GP2 (mariokart)
