What is this "idle bounce" that is happening with the MCS? Is the only way to fix it with the AP?

Wheel or crank? What turbo/mods?

For some reason some Minis with our tunes are getting a fluctuating idle, we're working on it. I mentioned it a few pages back, but if anyone is having that problem, send me a datalog of it happening to maps@altaperformance.com.

 

Just got my accessport today. The thing is great. That I can find there really is not any real downside to it. Now my question is if there is a good deal to be had on a clutch kit when I get too happy with it and blow it up. Great job guys.

 

Got my accessport yesterday, pretty great upgrade. I haven't noticed a bouncy idle yet, but I have noticed that there is a similar issue w. my r55 S. As I am driving uphill, the torque seems to bounce while in partial throttle applications.

Other than that, it's been quite swell

 

I've mentioned this before. I don't have an AP yet but I do have a 200 to 300 idle bounce on my '07 MCSa.

The only thing that isn't stock is my Alta intake. Since I have the idle bounce and do not have the AP I think the issue goes deeper than just the AP.

I still want to get the AP but I can't justify it until I get a job and pay off some debts. Until then I'll keep reading this thread.

Of course I'd be willing to send you unaltered data maps if I had some way to do it

 

I can assure you that what your issue is...is not related to the bouncy idle that people with the AP have.

Mine does it from time to time and mine is a completely custom map...not from Alta. It's only done it since I've had an AP-based tune though.

So, has anyone done any modifications with NCSExpert and noticed that the changes got reverted after unmarrying your AccessPort? I haven't tried this, but I'm just wondering...

 

You should definitely get yours before me - mine is now south of Puerto Rico - probably about a day from the Panama Canal.
