Thanks. I was reading thru and the car seems nearly identical to mine in terms of mods so I got excited.

Also there's no tuners in my area (possibly even state) that tune Mini AP's. Lots of local AP tuners that do STI/Evo and such.

You're welcome. Unfortunately I don't think there are any tuners around that still tune the MINI AP.

If you need a custom dyno tune now, I'd recommend finding another tuning option and selling the MINI AP, they still seem to be selling for a good amount on the used market.

Thanks. That's still my end game. I just don't like adding to my sunk costs on this car.

Is there a way to get the JCW maps added to my AP or is it all done by recognition? Can I just add a map in AP manager? I'm assuming the JCW maps are pullable from a friend that has AP on a JCW.

You can add maps in your AP Manager. I did that maybe 3 yrs ago, unless something has changed since then.

Your AP maps all have a similar prefix, matching your ECU software program --- something like "H810B" or "H910B". Your AP can't load a map with a different prefix, and I'm pretty sure JCW maps will have a different prefix from MCS maps. This is one reason why AP owners don't want dealer software upgrades --- upgraded software has a different prefix.

There is a tuner near or in Salt Lake City that has / had capability to change a friends AP map prefix. Wisely it didn't happen (it was one of my custom AP maps). Same company that bought out ZipTie DynoWerks (who did my last AP tune) --- Simple Performance.

I'll second Alta_Chris's suggestion --- get a different tune. You can still use the AP for everything else, just no map storage.

Ok! My Turn I read back on a couple threads and problems and issues everyone is having...Yes it's an older map and tune..but my Mini is an 09' MCS N14 R56 Auto trans
I have a larger Front Mount, Catless DP no second cat no res to magnaflow muffler
Alta recirc valve alta boost tap and a cold air intake.
I downloaded stage three and everything downloded fine..Now when I get on it it coughs at 4000 rpms...like it's choking out...I need to play with this accessport more for sure.
The airbag light is still on after clearing the codes..weird how do I get that off?
Is it possible the recirc valve is slow? or would the sport button have anything to do with this coughing or loss of boost at 4000 rpms. Like I really can't get on it it will kick back and cough and choke at 4000rpms weird...Little help...
I know its an older accessport and it is updated just received it back from Cobb..

Do you have any codes? Diverter valve became an issue before the wastegate on my turbo did. Though both were fine on stock tune.

Unrelated but I was finally able to buy the Stage 4 tune for the Alta 42/56 turbo. If anyone buys a JMTC 42 hybrid and still runs AP, this may come in handy.

I remember that Alta was pretty specific saying that they needed larger diameter exhaust to run more than stage 2, not just catless. I never went past stage 1, so I don't have any direct knowledge of this.

Codes read and cleared...
P2EE5--Thermo input signal
P0597--Thermo heater control circuit open...
Replaced thermostat prob 30-40 thousand miles ago no leaks no drips...cleared code..

Mbwicz
Did not know this though .75 od would not matter in exhaust piping but I guess it might..
I tried running without the sport button on..was slightly better but I still get the kick back cough at 4000-5000 rpms
I raised the rev meter to 6500..
I will try the stage 2 and see if that makes a difference...extra Power is nice in stage 3
turning a wheel in 1st & 2nd and slightly in 3rd...with paddle shift auto trans..

Still can't clear the dreaded airbag light..can't seem to find that to clear it....anything I'm missing?

anyone got manual maps for an AP?

My car was an auto, and I deleted the manual maps at some point over the last 5 years. New computer, no maps available for a manual car.

I'm now looking to sell the AP, but it has limited functionality to someone with a manual. I'd rather do the homework for the buyer and load a few basic maps.

Thanks for any help. If you PM me, I'll give my email.

Likewise, if anyone needs some auto maps, I'll be happy to supply.

Have fun,
Mike

The AP is tough because there is limited support. Before you throw in the towel, you might want to seriously look at selling the AP (I just got $450 for mine) and spend the money on a Manic (or other) tune. I'm guessing that there is someone local to you that could tune the car in a day.

Either way there are weaknesses in these engines (maintenance and design), but there are people here to help. I can't imagine that the driving experience between a 200 hp, 2600 lb car is similar to a 400 hp 4000 lb car. Don't give up on the MINI just yet.

Nice...I reloaded to stage 1..and still the same problem...

Before I leave work I'm going to tack the tune off and go back to factory..and see if that works...maybe its my diverter valve...? Looking into the upgraded elec diverter from Way or ECS...maybe thats it...

I would be more than Happy to cruise down to Sunrise...to figure this thing out..

Went back to stock.. And runs so much better I can finally step on it pass 4000 rpms no cough no choke...

With tune cough and choke...

Not sure why the tune 1-2 or stage 3 Ecu just won't accept it..or other parts and pieces....So much for this Cobb-Accessport tune...

Hey Randeez shoot me Lou's number Manic will be my next try at a tune...

Lou is Tigger2011 on here if you want to shoot him a PM, let me find his number i'll text it to you

Your problem I am sure will wind up being something unrelated to the accessport and some hardware issue instead. You shouldn't blame the tune when it brings out a mechanical issue when the car is tuned up.

Sstrickstein not blaming just trying to figure it out....Tune is what I want and I do feel the extra power just cannot get past the 4000rpm barrier when I step on it...
It can't be driven that way..That is why I went back to stock.
